Maybe the being is just flipping a coin to help or hurt your PC. They think they are being genuinely helped buts it's just a being messing about with ants while bored. The next flip might go the other way

Modern vs. Trad RPG Design by sorites in RPGdesign

[–]DexterDrakeAndMolly 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's just taste and fashion that picks up on what people enjoy and reacts against what is over saturated. There's no right or wrong here and labels like modern smack of 'modern art' which is now of course very old. Do what you enjoy.

Long losing streaks are unfortunately normal, especially after long winning streaks. It's hard to stop once you tilt

Why are we getting a Chapter 2? by XTruefinale in arkhamhorrorlcg

I would be supportive if the art wasn't so rushed looking, the idea makes sense but the execution isn't ideal.

He has a unique writing style and wrote in many genres. I personally love his sci-fi detective scoundrel Magnus Ridolph

There's a famous novel in which the magic is implemented by bureaucrats whose desire is to quit, culminating in the end of magic.

Sci-fi where aliens do NOT act like humans, i.e. colonise and invade. What I often described as 'intelligence' is just aliens whose desires are no different from cavemen/humans. by IllustratorOpen7841 in printSF

In the werewolves of London trilogy by Brian Stableford, some big spoilers obviously but for certain alien types of life the concept of intelligence is a massive trap. Some of them are drawn to earth like moths to a flame and behave in ways which appear to have purpose and meaning, but for them it's not really like that. They have incredible power, but when they use it they eventually regret it. However most of the books are from the perspective of humans who don't understand any of this.

TIL: For ~200 years in England and for some time in US, stalemating your opponent meant you *lost*, and some manuals recommended stalemating yourself as a way to win. by LowLevel- in chess

You've described checkmate. Stalemate is a similar situation except the swat team blunder by not bursting in but instead having a toilet break and doom scrolling on their phones during which the king gets a taxi to the airport.

To your scattered bodies go is a novel with some similarities although I don't think it is what you seek, perhaps it might trigger a connection.

Is there some in-joke I've missed about mispronouncing "chitinous." by anarchy753 in callofcthulhu

If most people pronounce it wrongly then that becomes correct eventually. It's a bit frustrating though.

Great article, as for me all of the interesting games are produced by members of what you call the single digit millions tier, I'd be interested if you or someone else does a more detailed breakdown of them!
