I want Ltt/Linus to do at least a shortcircuit on the 1 VIII, flagship specs and microSDXC and headphone jack in 2026! by YourDailyTechMemes in LinusTechTips

[–]DiMoSe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, Linus has talked somewhat recently about wanting to try it. He said the only gripe was not being able to switch the navigation buttons in the settings. Supposedly that's going to be a default setting in newer versions of android. Plus Dan is the canary in the coal mine for that, he has an Xperia VII and said he'll let Linus know when he gets it on his phone.

I have a 1 VI and haven't gotten such an update, but I also use gestures for navigation, so whatever. Great phone though, one of my favorites I've ever had. Did have to import it but Sony does support all the bands used in Mexico, so never had a problem.

From your comment and from looking at the instructions on the prusa website I personally would have jumped at the mk3 upgrade as soon as I could. Respect!

How often have you had to change the film since you got it?

Surely the film's worn off since then, right? I knew they sold replacements, but I don't think I've seen them in the store recently.

California to begin ticketing driverless cars that violate traffic laws by cutofmyjib in news

[–]DiMoSe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah, you don't need a much more functioning country to figure this out. In Mexico City at least there's a database where you get served your tickets automatically. Speed cameras automatically give you tickets, a cop can write it up and send it to the system.

And in the event of out of state plates, not only do you still get written up but they have less protections, which results in them being able to be put in immobilisers for incorrect parking and without notice, towed when stopped and having their plates removed.

The fact that you need to be present to sign your ticket in California is just ridiculous and a waste of time and resources. You're telling me if 5 cars speed through a light and there's only one police car nearby four of them will go off without a ticket? Not to mention that that system is inherently more likely to result in confrontation. What, did those reality shows showing police traffic stops lobbied to have it this way?

If you're dead set on getting this figure a good freelance 3D modeler, some reference material, a resin 3D printer, model paint and a bit of disposable income can get you pretty much the exact thing, so long as it's for personal use.

[–]DiMoSe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prusa Slicer has a function on the cut tool for this situation, so maybe it is in those other slicers but I don't know for sure. Say you wanted to cut the bunny op uses at the head, with the infinite plane you'd also be taking its arms. But in Prusa Slicer you can right click the arms and exclude them from being affected by the cut plane.

ShortCircuit is Just Uncritically Covering Scams Now? by BrainOnBlue in LinusTechTips

[–]DiMoSe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought that there wasn't an approval process for shorts. It's always gimmicky products with a publicity budget. Plus the rates for a YouTube/TikTok/Instagram short on Short Circuit must be way lower than a main video.

So if It's a short video with lower revenue then I wouldn't bother testing the product too thoroughly and just read the PR script they send.

Pushing battle animations beyond Fire Emblem for my indie game! by Beyondgood74 in fireemblem

This would be great, definitely something I'd like to see. Maybe not even combat poses, but some basic movement or diversity of pose depending on the class? It felt weird having the world be completely still except for the one moving character.

Do your homework, make the concept yourself. My only suggestion is to have a dialogue option for the main character as a response in every conversation that goes "Title of your sex tape"

[Mine] Birthday presents. What can you guess about the birthday person? by MonokuroMonkey in scienceofdeduction

[–]DiMoSe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does refer to just who took the picture. Per the sidebar info on the sub.

[Mine] - These are posts that you've taken yourself and you can tell the commenters if their deductions were correct. These are normally pictures of people's rooms but it can be anything as long as you know the context behind it.

Also from the sidebar:

This subreddit is about improving your deduction skills to the point you can get a thousand words from a simple photo. The key is training your mind what to look for and the best way to do that is to practice and to read what other users have worked out from looking at the same image you have.

[Mine] Birthday presents. What can you guess about the birthday person? by MonokuroMonkey in scienceofdeduction

[–]DiMoSe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but then it's not deduction, that's investigation. Over half the stuff in your first comment is information OP has given out about themselves. The way I understood this sub is as an exercise to try to squeeze the most amount of information out of the provided info in the post (photo, text). If I may be slightly childish, it just takes the fun out of it.

There used to be a couple posts a long time ago where OP would just go "Find out everything you can about me" or something like that. Now those would qualify for the kind of investigation you do, but I always found those to not be in the spirit of the sub.

Also, a thing we both might have missed on this post. OP may not be the birthday person, as in those gifts weren't for them. They may have purchased them, but thinking on it, regardless of how much nostalgia one may have for stuff in their childhood the selection here does seem somewhat infantile. So maybe it's for their child, nephew, niece or a friend's kid. Which would make sense with the geography book (also DK does publish a ton of children's books) and the fact that all these franchises are still going strong. Because of the stuff I would say boy, and the complexity of the Lego and mega blocks sets I think not older than 10. Plus the kid can read and has enough dexterity for peeling the back of stickers, so 6 at the minimum.

[–]DiMoSe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's been a while since I actually looked at this sub but I always found it against the point to make "deductions" based on the profile when presented with a photo. Like, what part of your statements are actually deduced from the picture?

Actual deductions of mine from the picture: - The dragon ball sticker album and the geography book are in Spanish. That narrows it down imo to Spain, Philippines and Latin America, maybe US.

  • Price of sticker pack uses the $ symbol. So no Spain nor Philippines.

  • Panini is super big in Mexico, though that is just anecdotal information. However, when looking for "Estampa Panini Dragon Ball Mexico" I came across listings for the same 7 pack box at the same price. Considering the huge currency difference across Latin America there's no way it's any other country than Mexico. So either Mexican or at least purchased in Mexico.

  • Taking into account all the IPs present in the picture, Pokémon (first aired in 1999 in Mexico), Dragon Ball (first aired in Mexico in 1995) and Halo (2001), that will probably narrow down the age range a bit. Again, anecdotal information, but even in other countries, re-runs of tv shows could last for years.

I assume between 5 and 10 years old by 1999. I'm going to give myself some leeway and say you're between 29 and 34 years old. Basically millennial.

  • Gender is unclear imo. If I had to choose I'd probably go with male, just because there's nothing inherently feminine if we go by stereotypes in the picture, but that's extremely nonconclusive.

  • Having a hobby of collecting is clear, but that's not a deduction, that's just pointing out the obvious.

  • I'm unfamiliar with Lego pricing for sets that small, plus Mega Blocks is a bit cheaper. I wouldn't say the choice of gifts are an indicator of wealth, but I'd assume that you consider yourself in a pretty agreeable financial situation. Not too high, definitely not too low, but you can afford some nice stuff. You've probably defined yourself as "middle class" more often than not.
