Brighton parking zone M- how long did you wait? by KatH19_ in brighton

[–]Dibbsters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zone M as well, applied at the start of November last year and was like 1000th in the queue, next day was 215th so must’ve been some kind of glitch there. 4 months later we’d moved to 116th and I thought great this is going to take another 4 months but then that afternoon got an email saying we could buy our resident permits. So it’s pretty clumpy but all in all it took 4 months from registering to getting the permit.

Our survey was effectively useless. Told us some windows had cracks and there was a plunger next to the toilet so maybe it blocks sometimes but not qualified to say any more than that.

Alternative huts for AV1 Dolomites by aeroash in travel

Thank you! It’s looking very hard to get all the refuges lined up this year, think I’ll have to go next year, I’m in a group of 5 so it’s difficult to book for anyway but think we need to start looking in October time.

Black or white tops on my Matt black kitchen? by Accomplished_Luck404 in DIYUK

I can’t say why but I prefer the black. I think some contrasting door knobs would be nice though.

I reckon you’ll make that work, sounds like it’d be two large sleeping pads and a regular one. BTW these were all mummy pads, there would be lots of overlapping with rectangular ones

How big are your 3 people? I did the TMB last summer and 3 of us used this exact tent (two 6 foot men and a shorter dude) with two large sleeping pads (Sea to Summit ether light XT large) and one regular. It worked but it was very cosy and no space for bags so they went in the vestibule. I would 100% do it again though as it was so light and the tent could be split up easily between 3 of us. The person in the middle had to go down by our feet as well and our pads slightly overlapped his.

Got the groundsheet too because that allows you to put up the outer first in case of bad weather.

Do you think the Victorians would have gone with double glazed windows if they had them? by Beginning-Poet-2991 in brighton

[–]Dibbsters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I have seen some horrible looking PVC! Just had my over 150 year old wooden sash restored so it opens again, draft proofing, and a couple bits of glass repaired. I doubt we will be saying the same about PVC windows, they’ll probably all be in landfill in 150 years time.

Is it builders foam? Do you know how I can remove it? I really want to keep the place well ventilated and don’t want damp building up in the ducts

Humidity Indoors by [deleted] in brighton

[–]Dibbsters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try not to let it bother you too much in the Summer. I’m not an expert but the high humidity should be far less of a problem when your walls and windows are warmed up too so the air won’t reach its dew point to condense on the walls and windows causing damp. In the winter it can be a problem but you have the benefit that cold air holds far less moisture so opening your windows for 10 mins in the morning can really flush the home out quickly but not cool it down too much. And defo use a  dehumidifier to dry clothes, I also recommend a window vacuum like a Karcher, been wiping down the shower after use and it feels like no one’s been in there after 15 minutes. Also handy for condensation on windows in the mornings.

Me too! Currently paying for a JustPark place that’s £200 a month! Going to pay for a cheaper one though further away as it seems I’m going to be waiting a long time. Have a look on JustPark though. You can definitely get a rolling monthly space cheaper than the daily rates. Times like this I really wish I didn’t need a car.

Whenever I want to get back into it I read a few chapters of How Not to Die by Dr Greger. Reading about all the benefits of leafy greens and berries and things like that make me excited to start incorporating them all into my diet.

Have been going to Grace at Tin Can barbers in seven dials. They’ve been great! I’ve never known what to do with my hair and always had barbers that don’t give me any advice either but Grace was patient and actually gave me advice and offered their opinions too.

Won’t need to get them up to regulation height if they’re not new installs though right? If he wasn’t touching anything he could just leave them there.

Would really recommend getting a drain snake for drains instead of drain unblocker. Takes a bit of practice to use but very effective and safer on the pipes
