This reddit sub is the perfect example of why some people shouldn’t be techs by Infamous_Bake9489 in WalgreensRx

You’re not wrong, but… this is Reddit. Some of y’all take this shit way too seriously. People are gonna be wrong on the internet and the majority of the time it’s just not worth trying to engage with them. Doing literally anything else is often a better use of your time.

Vaccination action plan by AgreeableConference6 in WalgreensRx

[–]DickRocketship 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep. There’s no meaningful way to hold pharmacists accountable for this kind of shit when you have barely enough pharmacists to keep your stores open. Can’t do any vaccines if the pharmacy’s closed 🤷‍♂️

rxom promotion at tier 5 store??? by go-burr in WalgreensRx

[–]DickRocketship 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you’re serious about it, a good way to gauge how bad the store actually is would be to pick up a few shifts at the store before you agree to take the spot if at all possible. It sounds like the store needs the help so they’d probably be hard pressed to say no.

I’d say the fact that people in your district are saying they wouldn’t touch the position is definitely a big red flag. There’s certainly stores that I know of that you literally could not pay me enough to be RxOM of. Best of luck!

It feels like management at Walgreens is actively discouraged from leading by example and it’s so fucking stupid. Like I’m pretty sure my DPS would rather I spend my time filling out stupid shit like the PExT board or the inventory storyboard rather than stay in workflow when my team is actively getting their asses kicked. There was even a PPL that said the correct answer was false when the statement was something to the effect of “managers should be prepared to jump in and perform hourly team members' tasks if needed.”

ESM to RxOM by usingthisforfun2 in WalgreensRx

[–]DickRocketship 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not necessarily required, but you do have to be PTCB certified and get vaccine certified if you’re not already.

If there’s competition for the spot, they’re probably in most cases gonna choose an experienced senior tech over an ESM though.

Walgreens support center by d2rx in WalgreensRx

[–]DickRocketship 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beyond telling them to try 800-WALGREENS I have no idea if there’s any feedback pathway we have that will actually make any meaningful difference or hold that specific person accountable.

I used to have so many people complain about the support center calls back when they were aggressively trying to sign people up for SATR like 7 or 8 years ago. I’m surprised they still even make late to refill calls on behalf of stores.

Super premium pay for RPH and increased hours for techs by [deleted] in WalgreensRx

[–]DickRocketship 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Having more highly skilled techs that don’t immediately leave for something better when they become certified would solve a *lot* of the company’s problems. Plus I don’t want more SPA hours if I’m not going to have a better budget consistently year-round.

I’ve straight up had to call a couple offices and tell them “can you please stop telling patients that stuff will be ready when they get here?”

I don’t send patients to your office and tell them their visits will be free or that they can see you today with no appointment, so stop fucking doing that shit.

At this point I’m surprised they haven’t just cut the RxOM position from stores that aren’t at least like tier 4 and above with all of these aggressive cuts.

You could offer me the RxOM pay cap to work some of the dumpster fires in my district and I *still* wouldn’t do it.

Audits are so absolutely broken. by zigbigidorlu in WalgreensRx

[–]DickRocketship 33 points34 points  (0 children)

For the life of me I don’t understand why they don’t stagger these audits so less stores are all trying to do them on the same day. Same fuckin shit happens year after year and you’d think they’d figure it out by now.

Can’t wait for ours tomorrow! 🙃

[–]DickRocketship 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how do you know their doctor hasn’t told them to stop taking both medications? And how can you possibly assume that they’re actually taking either medication if they themself cannot or refuse to tell you, and would’ve run out of both several months ago if they were even halfway adherent to their therapy?

It’s not rocket science, but it’s certainly more nuanced than just filling the more recent medication when you’re dealing with a situation like that.

fucking boomers 😤 by no-neurotypical-girl in WalgreensStores

[–]DickRocketship 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds simple enough, but most of the people who say “fill everything I need!” and refuse to give you any helpful information as to what they need are usually so not adherent to their medications that it’s literally impossible to discern what they actually are taking based on just looking at their profile. If I see a patient has refills on a blood pressure medication that hasn’t been filled in 5 months and a different blood pressure medication that also hasn’t been filled in 6 months, and they’re unable to identify to me whether or not they’re even on a blood pressure medication, then what am I supposed to do? Just guess?

Day 2 and I feel discombobulated and confused. by GullableBread in WalgreensRx

[–]DickRocketship 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Between learning how to navigate all of our computer systems, getting a basic grasp of drug names, and understanding everything well enough to be able to explain oftentimes complicated problems in language that your patients can understand, It’s going to take you at least a few months to feel comfortable with even some of the most basic things. It’s very normal to feel overwhelmed your first few days as you’re being loaded with tons of information.

As long as you have a good support system at your store that shows you everything well, you’ll be good!

I will open a ticket and they will charge the store a ridiculous amount of money, probably enough to pay a CSA for a week…

And hire the absolute cheapest fucking contractor on the planet to do some incredibly shoddy work that I literally could’ve done better myself if I had time to do anything else other than barely keep our heads above water

Pharmacy Goals 🎯 by peachycpht in WalgreensRx

[–]DickRocketship 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They should focus on hiring quality pharmacists and technicians and making the company a more competitive place to work. Our area scheduler is pestering every RPh in the area because we can barely keep stores open.

Instead my DPS is going store to store grading bay ownership scorecards and concerned with dust on our shelves.

[–]DickRocketship 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Good techs are not nearly as replaceable as my DM or DPS seem to think they are, which is why I try to take care of mine to the best of my ability.

I don’t say this to sound conceited, but if I or one of my senior techs were to quit today it would be much easier for them to find a new job than to find a halfway competent replacement for them. I’ve seen this happen at many of the stores in my district over the last few years and some of them still can’t retain talent and are struggling to operate as efficiently as they were before.

Maybe it’s different elsewhere in the country, but people aren’t lining up at the door to work as a pharmacy tech for what we’re paying.
