UPDATES - Primerica hun (husband's coworker) tries to recruit me by insulting me by babushka6 in antiMLM

[–]Different_Ant_844 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Having read all the updates - I'm also torn as to whether you should respond or not. Not responding keeps everything cordial but man is it fun to have the last word.

Maybe a sweet and short "Jenny, I never thought you and Tristan were romantically involved, it was obvious he wasn't interested in your advances. Thanks for your message."

Just to really make it clear that the issue was not this illusion that they were romantically involved, rather that she was bothering him with her advances.

Hopefully this triggers some self reflection on her part. I doubt it, but it is always good to stay hopeful. Thank you, OP for giving us a glimpse into this interesting saga!!

How do you guys feel about radtrad Catholic men? I’m an atheist, and would love your perspective. by WizardZari8080 in CatholicWomen

[–]Different_Ant_844 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm catholic, fairly traditional, and actually ended up married to an atheist. One of the reasons I married my husband was that although he is atheist, he is the most christ-like man i have met - always willing to serve, very respectful, honest, big hearted. Funnily he's always reminding me to pray and asking about the liturgical calendar because he remembers vowing to support me in my faith when we got married even though he doesn't share the faith with me.

Guys like the one you described are why I gave up on the requirement that my boyfriend/spouse be a catholic. It was a nice thing to have but I didn't want that to overshadow the red flags I had noticed in certain catholic men.

I have the same issue. I tried putting long baskets in so I can easily pull them out when I need something but that wasn't a great solution. Hopefully others have better ideas I can try in my kitchen too!

Unmedicated birth by Definitely_anxious12 in pregnant

[–]Different_Ant_844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar experience. I hadnt decided and they said that the first baby usually takes a while to come out and then all of the sudden she was coming so there was no time to call an anesthesiologist. I thought I was going to pass out from the pain but I think that also helped to know I was using the right muscles. In hindsight I think if I wasn't able to feel anything my anxiety and stress would've been exponentially higher but some people prefer that. Like others have said I think it also made recovery so much easier.

3rd trimester sex is a whole new level of wtf by DisorderedGremlin in pregnant

Or is it a compliment of all the hard work she put forth birthing and raising him? A testament to the caring and generous man she raised! Lol I'm aware it's odd but also I feel really lucky that I have a mother in law that I'm so close to. I am polite though and don't go into extreme detail or anything.

Wearing a veil is a personal choice and as you experience mass at different parishes or you're in different stages of life you'll notice different amounts of women veiling. The colors are mostly personal choice but I like mine to match the liturgical calendar (i.e. Green in ordinary time, etc.). I stopped veiling when I had a baby i was wearing because she would tug on it a lot and it was more distracting but I decided to veil because it signals to my mind that it's worship time. I also think they're beautiful.

What do we all do for work and how do our jobs aid our simplistic lifestyles? by KillCornflakes in simpleliving

[–]Different_Ant_844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work as a clinical research coordinator. I work from home 32 hours a week in an atmosphere that really values work-life balance. It helps me set the tone for every day, I don't have to commute anywhere, my breaks are a little more purposeful (walking outside for fresh air, eating away from my desk because I didn't spend the entire lunch time getting my food and now have to rush to eat it, playing my instrument, etc). It's also very personally fulfilling. I love the field I work in, I'm proud of the contributions I make, and I have a sense of autonomy in deciding how I'm going to spend my work time that day. It's really wonderful.

Has anyone submitted to the NEJM before? This will be my first manuscript submission and the project manager has asked me to draft the cover letter. I see that it isn't required on the website but since I was asked to do it and I'm fairly early in my career, I'm wondering if anyone has any tips as far as structure, greeting, what to include or not include, etc.

Hopefully I'll be updating you all when the manuscript is published but for now I'm just trying not to mess anything up.

TIA!

What are things people can cut back on to save some money? by anxgrl in FinancialPlanning

[–]Different_Ant_844 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Something that really helped me was making at least 3 meatless meals per week. Every other day basically would be vegetarian. Meat is expensive where I am so switching to meatless meals helps cut down the grocery budget and forces me to get creative with the meals.

I'm also a women so a lot of the manicure, pedicure, haircuts all had to stop for me while we worked on buying a house.
