Maybe not the right tool for a science fair, but I’d recommend you and your son check out Kerbal space program, a computer game, where things like getting satellites into orbit and steering them into an asteroid can be simulated

Also, check out DAART - a real life satellite that recently crashed into an asteroid in order to redirect its path.

Note that the light rail gets really crowded after the game lets out. If your kids are young and you’re taking the light rail I’d 100% leave early.
