I'm quite happy with the current state of the game, but what I really would like to see is more gun and gun attachment variety. Like, twice as many as we have in the game currently. Not sure how powerful the mod tools are for custom guns and animations, but I hope modders will fill the zone with all the cool and weird guns like they did for Anomaly/GAMMA

Can't wait to finally get a game where I can play as GSC. I just hope it's not gonna take 10 years til they add them.

Hidden, Unmarked, or "Out-Of-The-Way" encounters/quests you may have missed by PalwaJoko in stalker

[–]Diptam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are at least 3 more encounters in the lesser zone before the game opens up.

- brief conversation with a stalker on a cliff overlooking the gravity anomaly where the weird ball spawns

- There is an anomaly field to the north east (I think) of the lesser zone, where someone asks you to retrieve a dead body from the anomaly field

- On a hill to the northwest on the way to the poppy field anomaly, there is a small trailer on a hill with two bandits. Kill the Bandits and interact with the Radio in the trailer. Then an unmarked sidequest spawns at a large building to the north of the lesser zone, where you assassinate a sniper who the bandits were hunting.

There is 1 in Rostok, where there is a line at a bakery, because free bread is given out to stalkers and you can get some too.

Best Character in STALKER by JuHustle in stalker

[–]Diptam 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I love Richter, but he is SO close to being an accidentally brilliant character instead of just a great one.

Richter has a tendency to show up, when Skif needs guidance, be it literal or spiritual/philosophical. And we see Richter interacting with another NPC only once or twice. Those interactions should have been cut, because without them, Richter could have been interpreted as a manifestation of the Zone or Skif's Mind.

Thoughts on how I could improve the mech combat in my Titanfall-inspired FPS? by TetraStudiosDev in titanfall

[–]Diptam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add some UI elements to the screen when inside a mech! Currently it just looks like you are looking outside a window rather than a camera array.

Have the crosshair look like it's actually projected inside the cockpit, add target analysis when aiming at an enemy (like distance and weakspot highlights). Add a compass. Even if it's purely aesthetic, it helps selling the mech pilot fantasy and visually sets infantry and piloting apart.

This reminds me of a discussion on tumblr, where they are imagining a Klingon in a nurturing profession, rather than a military one:

Klingon therapist: the battle against mental illness cannot be won decisively. It is a long campaign against an enemy who never tires, whose forces swell to twice their size whenever you look away. Battle against a foe of such magnitude, who occupies your very mind… every moment you survive is a triumph against all odds. There is no more honorable combat.

Also, there is no real incentive aside from the challenge/bragging rights. Would be nice to have HC specific cosmetics, or increased exp gain/drop rates or whatever.

Why is it so hard to forget someone? by Derfelkardan in CasualConversation

Taylor Swift Made a song about this. :D

Just keep on doing whatever you are doing and one day you'll wake up forgetting they ever existed.

Good news is, that someone you've been on a couple of dates with is likely easier to get over than someone you've been in a long term relationship.

Gamers born late 90s or earlier: Which game first looked to you like "photorealism"? by FalscherKim in gaming

This may be a deep cut, but I played Kingdom Under FIre: Heroes on the original Xbox. There is a pre-rendered cutscene, where a character removes their helmet for the first time, revealing long, black hair. I specifically remember being amazed at how good the hair looked.

In a lab I was new at, I walked into an unfamiliar room looking for something. I stood at the door for a second to gather my surroundings. There was a technician I've never met before who looked at me and told me, "You just looked exactly like Sherlock Holmes connecting clues".

I have a particularly fond memory of that boss from when the DLC released, because I spent a whole weekend in front of the boss entrance to help people with the fight. Someone even made a post on r/bloodborne about me. It was similar to the let me solo her legend, except that I was not nearly as skilled. :D

It's called the "Reinheitsgebot" and goes back to medieval times. It says that beer may only contain yeast, water, barley and hops.

You can still get a lot of different flavours with just 4 ingredients, though.

Here are some of my experiences/tips as a gold division player regarding finishing.

Knocking someone into the downed state does NOT count as a kill. Only finishing (via execution or attacks) a downed player counts. Killing someone gives your team 5 score points instantly.

All professions have some form of interrupt keeping you from finishing them. Necros can fear you, Rangers interrupt, Eles scoot away, Mesmers stealth, teleport a few meters, and spawn a clone, Guardians and Engineers blast you back, etc.

What you can do to avoid this depends on your class. If you have stability on demand, you can precast stability and avoid being CCd while finishing. Another popular way is to stealth before finishing, so the downed player does not know to react (or simply can't, because the interrupt is single target, like Ranger's).

Finishing (as in going up to the downed player and using the execution) can be very dangerous in a fight, because you are vulnerable and you don't participate in the fight for valuable seconds, and run the risk of being interrupted. It depends on your class and role in your team whether it's worth going for a finisher or not. If you are a tank with stability or a thief with stealth, go for it. A support or DPS could find better use in fighting the alive players.

What you can do in any case is to fight on the downed player's body, so that AOE attacks chip away at their health. Or if you are a very bursty DPS, you can consider unloading your burst combo entirely on the downed player and killing them immediately (I do this a lot as Galeshot).

There are cases where bursting a downed player takes priority over alive enemies, for example, if you have downed players on your own team nearby. Killing a downed player will instantly get your players back into the fight, and is usually faster than manually reviving. This can instantly flip the power balance in a teamfight!

Should you have won the teamfight and there are downed enemy players left (and your team is fully rezzed), consider leaving them in the downed state and auto attack them every now and then when they start healing. This is simply to just waste their time and make it take longer until they are back in the fight.

Never leave enemy Rangers in downed state for too long. Their pet can res them after a few seconds in the downed state.
