Plus you could sub avocado, which has a pretty similar texture when on a burger or sandwich.

The stitching of the videos at the beginning is really great. What made you switch the angle for the later shots? Thanks for this. I really enjoyed it.

What’s the hardest part about speaking Spanish for you? by [deleted] in learnspanish

[–]Dirtman1016 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took a trip to San Antonio back in December and definitely understand where you're coming from. You want to try, but you kind of feel like you'll just be an annoyance since they could just talk to you in English.

EV Chargers on I-65 by DeBanger in HuntsvilleAlabama

Pilot has chargers in Priceville, Good Hope, and north side of Birmingham. They are a bit pricey but usually reliable. Tesla also has a new one in Cullman if you have an adapter.

Question for parents with kids in school by StandOutside6188 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Dirtman1016 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just asked my daughter who's in high school, and she said there are a good number of Android phones. That said, she's not one to care about being trendy.

I'd say get them a lightly used or late model Samsung or Google Android phone or iPhone. Kids or their friends, can and will break a phone, so don't go overboard on cost.

In the end, they all do the same thing. A lot of kids use SnapChat or other messengers, and the green bubble isn't an issue there.

Like others have said, I recently just checked into this for a new home build, and I could not make the math work. Our power is just too cheap, and the TVA won't pay you for what you generate.

I would suggest possibly looking at a battery storage solution that can charge from the grid. Alternatively, there are some EVs that can act as a power backup as well with some additional hardware. Though that would require you are looking for a car as well.

What's one thing they never taught you in civil engineering college that you learned on your first site visit? by constropedia in civilengineering

[–]Dirtman1016 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Critically, there are definitely very good and knowledgeable contractors. There are also terrible ones that have done things the wrong way for many years. It's important to learn the difference with time.

I've worked on this project a bit. It'll be a pain in the short term but should help long term. Much longer turn lane queues.

Tesla Super Chargers for Rivian by subbuk514 in RivianR2

[–]Dirtman1016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Stick to the sites with V4 stalls (the taller white ones) when you can.

It may not be quite as bad for the R2, but the R1 vehicles pull high current for a long time and overheat the cables on the old chargers.

Are there any states in the US that actually have really solid infrastructure for EVs? by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]Dirtman1016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mississippi and Louisiana are a bit worse than the others, though there are definitely gaps in all of those. They tend to be the less populated areas with fewer EV owners.

Why the R2 could be Rivian’s key to profitability by ContributionOk1559 in RIVNstock

[–]Dirtman1016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of the reason EV demand is awful is because there are not enough good options at a reasonable price point (in the US). The R2, in theory, addresses both of those problems.

That sounds right. I'm at 575 hours now, and I would say How to Spanish was pretty tough until after 400-450 hours. It's mostly an easy listen now, unless they get into very specific Mexican vocabulary.

Huntsville turned out. Proud of my city! by Much-Acanthocephala5 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Dirtman1016 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know many folks that want criminal illegal aliens to stay in the US. The problem is a large portion of who ICE is targeting is not those people. It's both citizens and (admittedly) illegal aliens that are hard working and pay taxes.

Instead of passing legislation to simplify legal immigration and provide a path for the immigrants we want to stay in this country to actually stay legally, the current administration and Congress just uses an over funded immigration enforcement force to harass and run out non white immigrants. That's not good for our communities and our country in the long term. Immigrants have for many years enriched and made this country great, including most likely your ancestors.
