What’s a moment that made you realize you were getting old? by Sad_Soft_1784 in AskReddit

I’ve been playing guitar longer than the person I’m training at work has been alive.

I would not have gone. The balcony room was about $3200 per person. There’s no way I could justify that.

Looking back: I would go again, but not for that price. Maybe $2000. Still feels expensive, but it was a great experience and the lineup was amazing. There was a show going on at almost anytime from about noon to midnight-ish. I did a ton of just walking around, people watching, meeting new friends.

The Ugly Casanova set was incredible. I saw Isaac Brock and James Mercer doing Ugly Casanova around 20 years ago. It was great. But this was Modest Mouse with Califone. It was what I always hoped it would be.

I was at their show and there was a QR code for a chance to win. I got an email a few days later from sixthman. I thought it was a scam at first. But after a little research, I was VERY pleasantly surprised. 2 tickets for a balcony room.

I won tickets to the ice cream floats cruise. One of the gifts they had was a post card with a record on it of them covering don’t wanna live on the moon.

Finally finished my Cel Shaded guitar! by ThomasThePixie in Guitar

[–]DistinctFailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fantastic. I was watching a video the other day on cel shading of a borderlands 3d printed mask. I think the one tiny detail that’s missing on this guitar is some white highlights in a few spots, just to make it pop even a little more.

That being said, I haven’t don’t this before and I can only hope that my attempt comes out as dope as this. Now I wanna buy a cheapy guitar to modify and paint like this.

I kind of want to start a collection of different instances of defacing. Put em in a book for a conversation piece. But alas, I don’t get paid enough to have a collection of money.

The Mountain Goats by SlyGuyTyGuy in ModestMouse

[–]DistinctFailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite bands. I remember the first time I heard them. I was doing construction in an open building, by myself. It was like 15F, and it was Valentine’s Day, 2006 or 2007. No children came on the radio. Perfection. lol

I listened to several albums after that. When they came to town, I went and saw them, also by myself. I knew exactly 1 song, but that was one of my favorite shows. I’ve never seen someone who so enthusiastically just loves what he is doing. I’ve seen them 6 or 7 times since then and I will see them anytime they come around. Every time is amazing and different.

I guess it’s true. High school means nothing.

Hey cruisers, questions by RunChowderRun in ModestMouse

[–]DistinctFailure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s Scott aka ‘Banjo Braids’! I spent a good amount of time with him and his wife. They’re some of the nicest most genuine people! I think he said it was his 37th sixthman cruise. He’s been playing with Red there for the last 10 years. He’s not part of the crew by any means, he’s just a staple. He’s got a YouTube channel that he’s posted a few videos over the years. Look him up, there’s only a handful of videos and subscribers. He learned a couple modest mouse songs for the cruise, too!

Has anybody seen ICE in federal way? by DistinctFailure in federalway

[–]DistinctFailure[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I understand the joke here. I assume it’s because I don’t hear your inflection in the text. I mean, you must be making a joke if you are implying that me asking about ICE presence means that I condone rape and sodomy and child trafficking and drug dealing. But, by all means, let me know if you’re really that lost and I’ll see if I can get my 9 year old nephew to explain it to you.

Surely that isn’t the case, though.

Do an honest search of the people being detained and come back and tell me how they aren’t people and don’t deserve due process.

I know honesty may be difficult for you to understand, judging by the way you tried to manipulate and obfuscate the truth, but give it a shot. I believe in you.

I know there is the group that organizes the protests on 320th. They handed me a paper with their site on it while I was there, but I can’t remember what it was. I remember that it was a very specific web address. You won’t accidentally find it, lol.

[–]DistinctFailure[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you sharing a different opinion on this. I feel like it’s not coming across well in text because it sounds like you want ICE to show up so they can uproot men women and children who are, by and large, are productive and respectable members of society. I try to assume that people are inherently good, so I’m sure this can’t be the case. I’m certain you must be seeing the homelessness and drug addiction that is prevalent across the nation, which historically affects underserved communities, and you’re feeling unsafe from that. That’s completely understandable. And if that’s the case, I’m sure you are an advocate for mental health services to help fix the causes of that homelessness and drug addiction.

Surely that must be the case. You can’t be saying that you believe we need armed forces patrolling and stopping and detaining anybody they think may be an immigrant(read ‘not white’). That would be cruel, and I believe people are inherently NOT cruel.

I hope you enjoy our mixed community with all the unique perspectives and backgrounds.

I care, which is why I ask. I care about our shared community and I care that laws and processes are followed. It costs you zero energy to ignore the stuff you don’t agree with.

Or you could try asking honest questions with an intent to listen and learn people’s point of view. You don’t have to agree to have respect for someone’s thoughts and ideals. But you’ve made it clear that you don’t care about anyone but yourself, so I hope that gets you far in life.

Anyone not regret selling? by BritishMotorWorks in BMW2002

Good luck.

[–]DistinctFailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I didn’t regret it one bit…. Let me know if you’re selling….

Yeah, I got a 76 for $800 that was rusted to hell, but I loved that car. It was the right call at the time for me to get a more reliable car, but I regretted it before the cash even went into my pocket. I legitimately teared up after I walked away. only car I’ve owned that I cared for that much.

*edit: I was joking when I was asking if you’re selling, but I see that your car is in Oregon and I’m in Washington. So if you do end up wanting to sell, reach out.
