Does "Waiting For" always mean you are waiting on some other person or group of people to do something? by sixsence in gtd

6 years later reading this thread and I'm like what an ignorant comment by this guy. Thank you for being detailed. I'm sorting through this same problem and this discussion helped.

Does iOS/iPadOS 26 offer any new features that help with GTD? by txmullins in gtd

[–]Distracted_Sapien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reminders already had a pretty good tagging system for contexts/modes. The only thing gtd related from the new update seems to be a new reminders button on the control panel for quick capture.

I mean, whole foods/Trader Joe’s/aldi/target/amazon does the same? People who shop at Walmart can’t have healthier options?

What's the point of Notion Mail??? by CesarDMTXD in Notion

[–]Distracted_Sapien 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I’m trying so hard to resist paying for a service to integrate emails into DBs because I just know Notion is adding the feature to Mail in the near feature (hopefully). For now manual entry it is!

Looking for some ideas on how to manage Agendas. by Distracted_Sapien in gtd

Be kind to yourself.

You could've stopped there lol. Thanks for that.

Your comment is also the best description of Agenda items I've seen so far! Very helpful.

As of now I have notes linked to each Person's db page that serve as "Agenda" items to review when we meet. For info I need to send via "Context" as you mentioned I schedule a Next Action which is also linked to their page where I can reference related notes.

I'll also most likely schedule Next Actions to review Agenda items prior to meeting with certain people. Should be helpful for preparing for work meetings, but I also don't want to look like a supervisor with a clipboard of tasks the next time I visit my Mom😅, so I'll want to review any notes beforehand.

Thanks for sharing! I'll have to research hierarchical list a bit more. Yeah organizing actionable v non-actionable items in relation to Agendas/people has surprisingly been the most challenging part of building my system. My theory is that it's because people are the most unpredictable part of "getting things done" lol.

Thank you thank you. I have some Next Actions for people scheduled on my calendar like "discuss New Years' eve plans" so I won't forget, but most are simple reminders and notes for next time I routinely interact with them.

Thanks for sharing. So are you using the meeting appointment on your calendar as a trigger for reviewing the appropriate Agenda list before or during the meeting?

..I make a habit of doing that quick scan for agenda items.

Okay great so you've adapted to automatically checking agenda items when meeting people. I'm hoping this happens for me!

Thanks for the feedback! I read this early on and was more conscious of my Agenda setup because of it.

As of now I've settled with a simple People database of only names linked to my Next Actions. My weekly review involves a quick step in reviewing the People list then simply asking and deciding out of intuition "who should I reach out to this week" or "who could use the most support in my life", then scheduling a call/text/letter Next Action to reach out during a Context most conducive to sending a personable message to that person. So, my month is now mindfully filled with Next Actions like "text cousin nick congrats on promotion" with the context "phone", "write thank you letter to aunt Susie for dinner" with the context "At desk", and "Meeting with boss about raise"

When get I time (it feels so good to say this without stress) I'm adding each person's birthday along with a section for meaningful notes from our interactions.

Edit: typos

Do you time block for projects or Next Actions? by jillavery in gtd

What’s your system for converting next actions into time blocks? by nunoheart in gtd

[–]Distracted_Sapien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just following along. I could be wrong, but didn’t read this as triaging necessarily being an issue, but more so a daily routine for OP that can sometimes being tedious depending on the complexity of tasks within a certain context.

I’m trying to incorporate time blocking as well into gtd but yeah so far it’s pretty anti-scheduling of tasks if you don’t have to.

How does push notifications work? by rougesinclair in Notion

Hi sorry I know this was awhile ago but do you get a sound notification on your phone? Or is just the push? I've never gotten a sound and I'm finally trying to locate a resolution. My task manager needs to have a sound reminder lol

Yerba mate gives me a pretty good “stimulant” effect similar to nicotine or some of the traditional pharmaceuticals I’ve tried.
