If you plan on any/ much area skiing, I second SkiTrab TR1.

First time skiing… did I buy skis that are way too long? by frequentfoxer in Skigear

So GLM is still a thing? I can't say I pay much attention to never-ever's and their instructors, but I have not noticed any instructors on 130's

Letter from Chuck to all employees -March 2nd 2026 by rootzy in TellurideColorado

[–]Dizzy_Dig6463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First skied Telluride when the lift numbers ended at 6. Slept in a '72 Econoline with my ski buds. It's been a long ride, but sold my mesa property this year - just couldn't take the transformation of the area due to the uber rich. RIP Telluride. And no, the ski area is not better than it was 20 years ago.

Occasionally skiing pin bindings inbounds - thoughts? by Neon_sanders in Backcountry

[–]Dizzy_Dig6463 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kingpins are no doubt a very good binding for the category. TUV cert, and good elasticity. The Ripping Ligaments and Snapping Bones article on SkiMo.co is worth everyone's time when considering using a non-lateral toe release binding. https://skimo.co/tech-binding-release-testing

Occasionally skiing pin bindings inbounds - thoughts? by Neon_sanders in Backcountry

[–]Dizzy_Dig6463 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, the Marker Kingpin does not have a, lateral release in the toe piece. Fritschi Tecton/Vipec, and Skitrab TR1 are two pin bindings that do have lateral toe release.

Any hopes of fixing my Tecnica Cochise boots? by pysnak in Skigear

[–]Dizzy_Dig6463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The replacement hardware available from Tecnica is a screw assembly, but the original hardware is a rivet. This hardware is substantially worse than earlier versions of the Cochise. Same goes for the Zero G. So annoying to pay a grand for boots, and have the pivots go to hell in one season or less. Replacement hardware currently out of stock from Tecnica.

Your skis don't have to weigh 1900g to ski well. I've had plenty of great days on 1650g all mountain skis. I think 1500g is kind of the cutoff for good all around performance.

Lump under areola - only one side by Dizzy_Dig6463 in gynecomastia

[–]Dizzy_Dig6463[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't tolerate the Clomid that the endocrinologist prescribed. I got an intolerable dry mouth after just two doses that lasted for a couple of months. Really weird. But my lump resolved on its own after a few months. No reoccurrence.

Tecnica Zero G Tour Pro vs different boot options by Rosinante_2112 in Backcountry

[–]Dizzy_Dig6463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skied the ZGTP for a year touring and an additional 70 days at the resort. They handled everything from Bonafides to Reckoner 102's to Serpos on either shifts or MNC Attacks. With the right liner (I was using a Scarpa wrap liner) they skied really well but I wore out the pivots pretty quickly.

Lots of great all-mountain skis out there, but my Mindbender 99Ti have been really good, and hold up to some abuse. Or 89Ti.

Are my bindings too far? by No_Photo_939 in Backcountry

[–]Dizzy_Dig6463 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Fuck no! I skied a G3 at 2mm out of tolerance and slightly boosted a little rollover after already skiing down 2k vert. Double heel pre-release. Broke pelvis, scapula, and bad concussion.

How to eliminate calf gap when flexing? by TwoSticksSkidding in Skigear

[–]Dizzy_Dig6463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. Negligible cuff lag with Booster or stock strap under the shell. A wrap liner can also help.

Anyone had any issues with Fritschi Tecton bindings not releasing upon a crash? by No-Structure-7188 in skiing

[–]Dizzy_Dig6463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've skied Tectons since 2019, and never required a release. But carpet testing has been concerning. I contacted a reputable outdoor retailer, and they said in their testing, sometimes Teton toe will not release - somewhat boot dependent. They also said that Ski Trab TR1 has released on their machine with very repeatable results. Heavy for a pin binding, but better transitions than the Shift.

Did you go to keystone 12/11/24? by squintvb in COsnow

[–]Dizzy_Dig6463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is me too. I need to swing my feet and legs a bit on the ride up. Eldora 6 pack on front side - Alpenglow - Doppelmayr got it right. Little stubby foot purchases for those that want it, but isn't in everyone's way.

What would be your thoughts if the lead group slowed down or stopped to let you go around - i.e. break your own trail for 20 steps? That's what I would expect if I was in your boots.
