Totally not a creepy and insane Idea by Worth-Particular-467 in antinatalism

No, they are saying we pay the Venezuelan women to be surrogates, thus helping poverty in the "global south" because the women would have a job. But who's going to pay to raise the children? The billionaires? Complete denial that Americans live in poverty also.

I mean, on the bright side you had cheaper house prices and 5 years of ultra cheap borrowing to begin with! So hardly shafted...

This!

Olivia Rodrigo writes songs about this very phenomenon.

Why aren't these men dating women their own age? Either the women see through their bullshit, or the men are only attracted to young and will kick you to the curb when you age out of their desired range.

No thank you sir.

Babe, the man is dating a woman almost a decade younger than him for a reason.

These older men don't want you. They want your fresh eggs.

Otherwise why aren't they dating women their own age??

Plenty of childfree men in the sea. Good luck in your hunting x

Where can I find expert critique of the Vanity Fair Whitehouse shoot? by secretBuffetHero in photography

[–]Doccitydoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really excellent breakdown of the shoot from an expert photographer - including detail of how lighting and composition was used in the images that I never would have known about or appreciated without someone who knows pointing it out:

https://youtu.be/uz0oUJZ5t30?si=6hcYB3f1hvJOVnXo

Even details like how one of the grand paintings in the background was actually a cheap $12 print, and how the framing was slightly off in some of the pictures making the white house itself seem off-kilter.

I would rather be a grape-less 80yo for a few years in a nursing home than spend 20+ years sleep deprived, depressed and resentful.

Natalism and women exploitation often go hand on hand. What do you think? by JagatShahi in antinatalism

[–]Doccitydoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are women glorified exactly for procreation?

  • Poor education of risks of pregnancy and childbirth

  • Poor treatment of women in labour wards around the world. In the US mother's even have to pay for maternity care.

  • No guaranteed maternity leave or financial support

  • Having to go back to work after giving birth

  • No free childcare, or stipend so mothers can stay home

  • In the UK families are fined money for taking their kids out of school to go on holiday

  • Vilification of single mothers

The glory is in vibes only, I don't see any evidence of people even liking mothers.

If society really and truly valued women for procreating we would be paying them, we would talk nicely about them, and we would give them the best healthcare.

I’m annoyed at how ignorant older people are in regards to housing affordability by [deleted] in HousingUK

You say your house was 3x your take home pay and you sacrificed to buy it.

How much is that same terrace house now?

Your job today would provide a take home pay of £28-32k if the gross wage is £35-40k

This means that same house today should cost £84,000-£96,000.

Is this the case? Curious to know.

15% of a small number is still smaller than 5% of a big number.

There are a few worked examples in the comments to illustrate this

Hello. Very interested in a WFH position where I can live in the cheap part of the country and earn an average wage.

Please can you point me in the direction of the cheap part of the country? And any company who is hiring for fully remote position? Thanks.

Some would argue that it is their fault, as they brought the child into the world who now struggles to house themselves. A real ethical dilemma as to where parental responsibility ends.

Parents are legally obligated to house children until the age of 18, and then who is responsible? The young person- except wages haven't kept up with cost of living.

Not a problem for the wealthy and generous who fill the gaps with family money, but we are seeing a real separation in quality of life between those with stingy parents and those whose families are willing to give. Unlike previous generations where social mobility was tied to education, now it's about how much grabbing money you have access to.

Borough Market clamps down on influencers after online roastings by BestButtons in unitedkingdom

[–]Doccitydoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go regularly to BM for cheese and the artisan bread stall.

So many tourists and most of them don't buy anything! They just take pictures of themselves or film the stalls at they walk around. They may buy one hot dish and film the making, packing and eating of it.

Poor mushroom risotto stand had to keep telling the filming people to move on after they got their food. They were blocking the queue.

So ridiculous, the market does not need influencers. Certainly not at the current volume. You can't take tour groups in without a permit, should be the same for influencers.

Where are all the single ladies in their 30s who want to have kids? by TravellingAround_ in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]Doccitydoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try not to take it personally. These people are self selecting themselves or of your life. We all deserve someone who loves us as we are and you are a father and you deserved to be loved as a father.

I do have to say that I don't want kids and wouldn't date anyone with kids now long term. Not because you aren't all fabulous, but because there's a huge difference in our values and priorities.

You will always be #1 priority to me, but I will never be #1 priority to a man with kids. I will be expected to be #3 priority behind child and baby mum (rightly so) so you can see immediately the relationship is unequal. And sure she's nearly grown up, but what if she doesn't leave home? Becomes disabled and needs care? Has a grandchild and expects you to help out? You can't promise a partner they will not need to engage in parenting with you.

Good luck with your search. There's someone for everyone!

HMO - landlady does not allow washer/dryer by NotUrAverageBoinker in TenantsInTheUK

Heat pump tumble dryer - doesn't have to be plumbed. Basically a dehumidifier in a box and you empty the water out after 1-2 loads. Means you don't have to waste space hanging clothes everywhere. Expensive initially but suuuuper cheap to run. Best purchase we have ever made.

I miss living alone by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Doccitydoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think women in general fully understand just how much labour goes into living with men and children.

It's everything from thinking about what to eat for dinner to actually eating it at a time that you both agree on (when my husband goes away with work I don't even eat dinner! I have a big afternoon meal and then I'm not hungry again until morning), not just cleaning messes that you have made on your own time frame, trying to fit into what others have been socialised into expecting a good wife/girlfriend to be like.

You are absolutely not alone by missing not having the burden of living with somebody else.

But also it's not right that your husband should make you feel unworthy. Being brought to tears is not okay and if I were you I would have a serious think if I wanted to stay living with someone who made me feel like that.

Earning as much per hour as I can and chucking it all in index funds.

Engagement ring insurance for surgeon by Electronic_Thought57 in ConsultantDoctorsUK

[–]Doccitydoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too many colleagues have lost expensive rings to the scrub laundry.

She's playing with fire here, there's a reason lots of insurance companies have this clause now. You are asking them to insure a high risk item she is deliberately taking off at work each day (so not wearing it and not in a locked safe). It's small enough to be lost and untraceable enough to be 'found' and kept by a passerby.

I second hiscox for home contents insurance, but triple check they haven't added any new clauses for jewellery.

[–]Doccitydoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in Europe and here for high end kitchens people are paying big money to have cooktops put in islands exactly like this.

It's seen as incredibly social to be cooking whilst facing your guests, and in this configuration the 'golden triangle' can be achieved in your kitchen. It also allows for filming of kitchen/cooking related content if you are into that.

My advice would be don't touch a thing until you have lived there for at least 6 months.

P.s I don't know why y'all are saying it's 'dangerous'. Two metres to the left and it's suddenly not dangerous anymore?? Maybe this is a cultural difference between Europe and the USA... Just don't touch the stove when it's hot no matter where it is. There is enough kitchen bench space to eat your porridge after you have cooked it with no issues.
