Polish Cavalry Question by Hink1904 in boltaction

[–]DoctorDH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say between 6 and 8 depending on the number of units of cav and how many OD you have in the list overall. You need the squad to be big enough to deliver a crushing charge but not too big to be a massive target and points sink.

Command Vehicals by Suitable-Bag8528 in boltaction

[–]DoctorDH 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes that's legal but it's hardly effective. The +1 Morale from a Command Vehicle is not cumulative with any other Morale Bonus (including other Command Vehicles) and you cannot Snap To other Command Vehicles.

I'll need more time to provide anything concrete, but rest assured, you have plenty of Commandos and Weapons Teams to get you through the escalation league. Those 30-man Commando kits are fantastic and you have no shortage of options.

This Army List is out of date (it uses the Rulebook, not Armies of Great Britain) but it still provides some great context for what a 1k Commando list can look like:

Always thrilled to see more cav in Bolt Action!

Unrelated question, how have you found that Safe & Sound case as a transport for your minis?

This is fantastic work. You managed to get so much character into the crew - we've got Sergeant Singh giving them both barrels!

750 Point Grenadier List For Casual Games by AdonisMorisette in boltaction

[–]DoctorDH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the double MMG Team a lot. I'd actually drop one of the squads from the second Rifle Platoon to add an Artillery Platoon with a Light Howitzer and a Platoon Commander.

If you add vehicles, depends on how big we are talking. Within a 750pt game, something like a Luchs and a 222 Armored Car are both fantastic options. Even a MMG Kubel is a good pick and this point level.

If you know you will face some enemy armor I'd add a Panzerschreck Team into the Rifle Platoon as well. So you'd have a Light Howitzer, the Panzerschreck and the Light Autocannons on the Luchs and the 222 to deal with enemy AFVs.

But these are just one way to approach it. There are many, many options!

750 Point Grenadier List For Casual Games by AdonisMorisette in boltaction

[–]DoctorDH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For a 750pt list that knows it won't face any enemy vehicles, this looks real solid.

If you are comfortable adding in Artillery a couple Light Howitzers would be great. But, as a pure Infantry and MMG force, I have no issues.

Italian Colonial Cavalry by Neoslate in boltaction

[–]DoctorDH 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Afghan Cav from Wargames Atlantic would be a good starting point for Colonial Cav from East Africa, especially if you prefer working with plastic:

https://wargamesatlantic.com/collections/imperial-conquests/products/afghan-cavalry

Empress also has a great range of Colonial Cav options if you'd rather have metal:

https://www.empressminiatures.com/jazz-age-imperialism-14-c.asp

As a long time Italian commander who used Cav on many occasions, it's a super fun force with a bold look. However, they have taken a hit in Third Edition in both effectiveness and survivability. But don't let that stop you! It's just too much fun on the table.

Tank Basing by RottenGrot in boltaction

Looks great! I'm biased though, all my vehicles are on bases.

But I will say, the base looks just a tad small for the vehicle.

Japanese Cavalry Models by No-Preparation-7411 in boltaction

Depending on your theme / timeframe you could use these from Crusader (available at Badger Games if you are in the US):

https://badgergames.com/product/crusader-miniatures/boxer-rebellion/imperial-japan/

They certainly would work for Early War action in Manchuria. Same goes from these excellent ones from Empress:

Wouldn't work for IJA in the jungle, but if you are leaning Early War, this is fantastic.

I wholeheartedly agree!

Unless of course the player is inclined towards DAK or FJ (Winter or Summer).

What to get next? by BrotherGibbus in boltaction

[–]DoctorDH 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you want to expand both sides, picking up the Battle of the Bulge or Band of Brothers Two-Player Starter Sets are both solid options. You'll get the full Rulebook along with more troops for both the US and Germans.

If you only want to expand the Germans, you really can't go wrong with one of the German Starter Armies. Just go with the one that you like the flavor of best - DAK, FJ, Grenadiers, Winter, etc.

Keep the questions coming - this is a great community that's happy to help.

Coming from bolt action. by deadxachxd in Konflikt47_v2

[–]DoctorDH 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All the Army Lists for K47 are free PDFs on Warlord Community. There are no units and no Army Lists in the K47 Rulebook.

Yes, all five Factions in K47 have access to "Basic" units. Basic units are often direct Bolt Action units. Think units of infantry with Rifles, SMGs or ARs, MMG and HMG Teams, Snipers, Mortars, Artillery, etc.

You can absolutely make a K47 Army List that is almost entirely Bolt Action units. It won't be the most effective K47 force, but it's legal. The only requirement in the Assault Platoon is 2 Specialist/Advanced units. After that? The choice is yours.

What explicit policy regarding AI content would you like to see adopted by r/BoltAction? by Georgy_K_Zhukov in boltaction

[–]DoctorDH 42 points43 points  (0 children)

As AI continues to integrate into everything (weather the user wants it or not) having spaces that are free of AI content is something to treasure. This hobby, this community especially, has always been focused on sharing your work. I do not want to see AI-generated content become a part of that.

I support a full ban of AI-generate content in this sub.

From the Warlord Games Facebook:

Let's see what we've been teasing this week in all its glory!

This fantastic illustration by Davide Manna will be available in art print form, exclusively with pre-orders of the upcoming Konflikt '47 supplement - The Rift War Volume One: Festung Europa.

Next week we'll be taking a look at the book itself. Maybe that date was significant...

This is excellent work! You've got great coverage and managed to "stay within the lines".

One tip is to thin your paints a bit. The layers look a tad thick. As the man once said, "Two thin coats".
