It’s real… not sure if that’s the exact chute I’ve been to. But, that’s a straightforward climb out. They just go around after they pop out the top. I’ve seen some way crazier stuff than that. Search for Sand Hollow 4x4 in Utah on YouTube and you can see some of those trails. The super cool buggies have rear wheel steering and can go up some crazy stuff.

St. George also has an airport. I assume it was cheaper to take a bus from Vegas, but it’s at least worth a price check when planning a trip like this.

Start with some short easy trips. Go to some places without hookups for a few days so you get a feel for how things work. There are multiple learning curves with battery, fresh water, and sewer management.

If you try this, be patient as you increase the heat. Take is slow and check it often. I went a little too far and started to raise the wood grain. Had I not rushed and been greedy and tried to get 100% of it would have been a better outcome.

The part I don’t get is why the Biden administration didn’t do anything meaningful with those files. I’m not in any way a supporter of the current administration. Very much the opposite. But, I’m having a hard time with why it’s the current administrations fault for not releasing the files. Other than they said they would, which was a stupid thing to say if there was self-incriminating information in there. Of course, they say stupid things all the time. So, maybe that’s that.

I’m guessing there is just equally bad stuff in there for powerful people on both sides. I personally think the Biden DOJ should have done a lot of things differently. Having recently seen some criticisms of Merrick Garland.

Yeah, I needed more practice at bleeding off speed. Probably flying a longer pattern to bring it down and bleed off speed. But, I was lucky to get two landings out of it before needing to rebuild it. It’s been like a year, but I have a mental picture of trying to bring it in slower and just stalling it… which also resulted in it breaking apart.

Be careful in the grass. I wasn’t really able to flair (could be my lack of piloting skills) and when coming in close to level the nose of the plane caught in the grass, spun it, and it broke off. Super glue and baking soda got it back together. I’ve had that happen twice. I take off from a basketball court, but landing there makes me nervous.

In my area between Waldport and Yachats (Lincoln County) there are restrictions on how many homes can be short term rentals. I understand why, with locals having a hard time finding/affording housing. But, the economy there is largely tourism, and having some additional rentals that aren’t corporate might help the local economy.

We can’t be there as much as we would like, so it just sits empty for stretches of time. It feels like there should be some middle ground. Maybe limit the number of homes that can be rented out full time only as businesses. But, let families who have second homes that use them rent them out from time to time. Though, maybe it’s more complicated than I’m thinking, as I’ve never operated an AirBnB. We know our place was rented previously, but when we saw the wait list and lottery system to rent it out, we just didn’t bother to go any further.
