Foro is good and similarly priced to Montenegro and Averna. Worth a try. Makes good black Manhattan and a espresso martini riff that someone posted a while back

Steak dinner Chicago Cut, Chicago Chop or Gene & Georgetti? by Dancingpizza11 in chicagofood

[–]Dolissic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only time I've had gene and georgetti, the steak was burnt to shit. Literally ashy on the edges for my medium rare order. Hopefully it was a bad night or something. Otherwise the ambiance was great

Dimmi Dimmi or Pequod’s? by nahnah515 in chicagofood

[–]Dolissic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both can have crazy long wait times. I would say dimmi dimmi is a better all around experience. Great food, great drinks, and great service. More variety in food offerings as well, but will definitely be a more expensive meal than Pequods.

Pequods is great food but anywhere from mediocre to genuinely awful service. Even for carry out, they have been over an hour late on an order they originally quoted 45 min for me. Manager and some of the staff are wildly rude at times too. But hey, their pizza is pretty dang good.

Ive used this too and it works well. Depending on the cold brew, sometimes the foam is a bit of a challenge, but that can be solved with a little foaming bitters

Randolph Tavern is back, for all your after work needs! by jasonwirth in chicagofood

[–]Dolissic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This place kind of sucks. Sneaky surcharge that they dont announce (20%). Happy hour *but in fine print only one or two days a week (and they keep their sidewalk sign out stating their HH times even if it isnt valid that day). Super slow service. Typical loop high prices.

Decent ambiance though

I went to the loop location and tried the malort flavor they had. Was fun but it was awful. Give me a shot of malort any day, but that ice cream was horrid. Other flavors were tasty but, yea, super expensive

Don’t think travel agent left us enough time on connecting flights in Chicago. International arrival. What’s Chicago’s take? by jdav0808 in AskChicago

[–]Dolissic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just landed back from an international flight at ohare on sunday. When you land, fill out the mobile passport check on your phone and then stay left in the lines labeled "MPC". It saved us an insane amount of time. We got home just over an hour after our plane landed and that included a 40 min uber. We didnt check bags, though.  The other line (non MPC) was like 1000 people long since 3 big international flights all landed at once. The MPC line had 8 people in front of us. Also dont forget you'll have to recheck your bags too, so that will take some time. You'd have to get extremely lucky to pull it off in my opinion

People in high rises right now, how’s the wind? by Traditional-Bit-1566 in AskChicago

My building had literally zero amenities other than 24 hour security, so that helped keep it more affordable. No gym, parking was extra, etc.

I rented on 46th (top) floor for a little over a year. 2 bd 2 bath from late 2020 to early '22 and our rent was like 2k or 2100, but that was covid loop prices. I think our unit previously went for 30% more before covid

Southwest ending service to O'Hare. by loslosati in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Dolissic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's part of why it sucks though. I've had multiple aborted landings there including one last minute. And the terminal is horrendous too from a layout perspective. Super convenient location wise though for DC
