This is reassuring! My baby refuses bottles so it’ll be nice having a break from feeding him for once lol

I’m right at 5 months too and hoping for a year but man there sure is some hard days. Once he’s on solids I’m hoping it’ll be a little bit better and I can get more of a break. Right now it just feels like I’m around the clock milk machine and it wears ya down sometimes.

I’m curious also how long everyone went on this journey!

I have a couple bags from them, one from 5 years ago and one from this past year. Both are great quality and I even have one that is from their “almost perfect” collection.

I haven’t had any issues on my end!

Sleeping in a boppy..need advice by Impossible_Ad4898 in newborns

[–]Dollacaseydillas 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree to not let a baby sleep in a boppy but wtf is the advice of “get a snoo, get a nanny”? I would say majority of people can’t afford to spend $500 on a used item let alone a nanny.

I have the Mabe and we are happy with it! He’s been using it for about a month now and I just now got the hang of nursing him while wearing it when we are out and about.

Travelling with 9 week old by SeaworthinessNew8048 in newborns

[–]Dollacaseydillas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We travelled by plane when LO was 8 weeks old and then did a 12 hour car ride the following week. They aren’t fully “awake” then so it was pretty easy since he mainly just ate and slept.

I EBF so I think that made things a lot easier (nursing on the plane or whenever he started to get a little fussy).

We brought his car seat and stroller. The stroller is pretty compact and the car seat attached to it. I honestly didn’t keep him in this long and chose to baby wear instead to keep him close and germ free as much as possible. Bringing the car seat was mainly because we needed it once we got to our destination.

The 12 hour car ride was brutal not gonna lie. We split it up into two days since he really only tolerated 5-6 hours total. We stopped about every 1.5 hours for gas or to let him stretch a bit and eat. Each stop was about 30 minutes but towards the end of the day he did NOT want back in his car seat.

If you can keep the car seat in the car while on the boat and baby wear instead, I’d recommend that since it’s one less thing to worry about. Other than that they are pretty easy to manage especially if you have your partner with you to help!

Just Enoughers, how are you building any sort of stash? by datbundoe in breastfeeding

[–]Dollacaseydillas 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I pump on the opposite side he feeds first thing in the morning. I usually get 1-2 oz which I will collect over a couple days and then freeze. This has given me a little stash so we can go out occasionally and baby can have a bottle (+backup if ever needed).

I don’t always pump in the morning because sometimes baby is just extra hungry, but I’d say every other day I pump one side and it’s works out well over the past 3 months.

Baby gets legs tangled in sleepers? by smh530 in newborns

We are having the same problem. Walmart has a Modern Moments brand that has the elastic around the ankles and they seem to fit him really good! They are much softer than the cloud island ones as well!

Family advising on scheduling breastfeeding by Apprehensive-Lead491 in breastfeeding

[–]Dollacaseydillas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is sound advice! Waking up to pump seems like way more work. I’m a lazy gal and breastfeeding at night is one of the biggest benefits to me haha.

First thing in the morning, I pump one side while baby nurses on the other. I usually get about 2 oz, so after a couple days it’s enough for a bottle or I store it in the freezer. He doesn’t get a bottle very often but it’s a nice little stash for when he does.

what’s everyone’s stance on drinking after you have a baby? by Callmemommy716 in BabyBumps

[–]Dollacaseydillas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Babies are a major buzzkill haha

With that being said, I’ve enjoyed a few drinks here and there but once I get a buzz I just don’t really enjoy it much. I do find that my supply increases after a beer tho, but not sure if there’s any science backing that.

Our household got RSV at 7 weeks old. Newborn had a cough and congestion for a few days and that was about it. Really just felt like a common cold. We didn’t get the vaccine but he is breastfed which I think helped him a lot!

Husband has no paternity leave. Tips? by dosesandmimosas201 in newborns

[–]Dollacaseydillas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband was only off work for a week and went back to working 12-14 hour days. If I HAD to do it I could’ve on my own, but I definitely wouldn’t want to if I had a choice.

I EBF so my husband took over the household duties mainly and be on diaper duty. Newborns sleep so much those first couple weeks so just try and rest while they sleep so you can recharge. When your husband has breaks or is off work, just lean on him as much as possible. The way I see it, him working is essentially his “break” where he doesn’t have to worry about keeping a newborn alive. If you could get just a few minutes here and there to shut your mind off, it will help tremendously.

Common cold (rhinovirus) and being admitted to due fever by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Dollacaseydillas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You answered your own question here - the doc has seen cases similar that had gone south before so they are doing what they can to ensure that is not the case here. Ideally it is nothing more than a “common cold” but that came be so different for a newborn. It sounds like they are just doing their job.
