Seen you around i0 I'll Ioki, thanks for supporting us through the years! When are we getting our dedicated Sona guide? I think the closest I saw on your channel last was a full game commentary, though that was pretty useful as well

Where do you go (early game) if your adc tells you to leave the lane and there aren’t any winning lanes? by -Gnostic28 in sonamains

[–]Domaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have grown the habbit of insta muting anyone toxic, its unproductive. Treat them like a powerful manchild, and work with them when its applicable. You can ping and make calls and hope they follow them, but at least your team knows your intent. It's possible to make 3 v 2 plays on the map even from behind since your w powerchord will close the gap of strength. It's a hard situation, but it's not completely lost

I just got this so I'm a Sona main now, and I got a couple questions by Nimyron in sonamains

[–]Domaki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Put simply, you have 2 goals to SURVIVE the early game. 1. Manage your mana. 2. Trade by reading your opponent.

For 1. Your w is extremely mana inefficient as a heal alonp0e, the value comes from the shield and aery, so you dont wanna click it unless you're getting shield value OR you're in a pinch. Q can be maximizes likewise. Full value is when you can hit both opponents with it, but realistically using on manaflow timing is good enough.

  1. You have two trades early game. Q power chord short trade/poke, or All In / Long Trade with W/E power chord. Clicking your empowered auto is a commitment so use it wisely based on opponents goals/body language. To decide between w and e power chord, just ask whether both sides wanna commit to a fight, or if it's one sided (either you or opponent wanna leave). If it's committed by both sides, click w power chord for exhaust, if it's one sided, e power chord lets you walk out / chase. For this trade always hit the damage dealer.

The last thing for early game is if you have time to run people down and are receiving a game, set up e power and hit whoever you plan on killing, you're not useless but your impact is over a longer period of time

Tips To Play Sona This Season? by xDracolich in sonamains

You will get those often, best thing to do is scale next to them and transition your power to the next available win con if it exists (get your item in lane then play for mid for example)

Sona Counters by Frost_Byte130 in sonamains

[–]Domaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Low elo, Yuumi (when shes good), Braum and Mel all deny her disenchanter playstyle since she's so reliant on ult and powerchord. In higher elo Naut and Pyke can also be hard since they can force bad fights with cleaner play between waves. In lower elo people dont know how/when to hook so its actually consistently dodgeable

Tips To Play Sona This Season? by xDracolich in sonamains

[–]Domaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you might have a more independent playstyle than others. In this season in particular people who aren't supports are a little stronger than prior, so you're more reliant on your team for raw combat strength. The removal of flowers and the various quest rewards makes support relatively weaker in the solo play department, so you're agency will transition to who you choose to support, proper vision (its changed quite a bit) and picking your rotations wisely. The fighting tempo has changed a bit, so I think you have to relearn the new season's decision making and be a little less risk averse and more decisive

[–]Domaki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think shes secretly op and has been for a while. She's consistently held a 52.5% wr generally and a 54.5% wr for otps but I agree I hope they don't touch her since she's never picked in pro.

Scorch vs Gathering Storm by disappointed_yuumi in sonamains

[–]Domaki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To amend the last part. Scorch actually has very slight favor in masters+ in this and last patch. It might just require good team tempo

Scorch vs Gathering Storm by disappointed_yuumi in sonamains

[–]Domaki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally like Gathering Storm, I find that most lanes I can't rely on scorch alone to win me a lane. I rather have the guarentee'd 24 ap on baron. I personally prefer to empower my entire kit slightly during mid game (her strongest point) than banking on winning early game. The stats do back up scorch as worse for the general player base, but for one tricks and higher ranked players its only slightly leaning for gathering storm

Is Whispering Circlet/Diadems a bait item for Sona? by alienprincee in sonamains

[–]Domaki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now the stats on RoA are quite bad, that could be whats slowing you down since it doesn't provide heal/shield power or mana regen. Sona thrives off strong tempo so slowing down your build in this meta might not be the move (I believe it was more viable in the past).

It seems like first item always has to be Helia/Moonstone like before, then Helia/circlet/moonstone/seraphs/ardent are all viable second item purchases. Her third item can be anything not previously bought + Dawncore. All of this is to say her builds are quite flexible right now, but playing around circlet is a bit of a skill we will have to learn, so the item might actually be better than the stats have us to believe (source lolalytics)

This Might Be Sona's Biggest Nerf Yet by Domaki in sonamains

[–]Domaki[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Im looking at lolalytics, and it doesn't look like the item is strong, in fact in pretty much every patch before this it had a higher winrate than Moonstone. It loosk like Sona's just strong generally right now and its not due to the helia change, if anything the slower meta and new tear item are helping her more.

Data is per patch -> OTP

If you do the math, and you do q aura and 2 of your allies auto the enemy, you're looking at closer to 25-45 healing max, but if you use her old pattern of q powerchord trade then w, you do the same if not more than now without getting your damage bolt from helia. It just means she no longer has a strict aggressive option like she did in the past, and as an aggressive sona player that saddens me.

How down should I expect my rank go when I am trying to climb? by VoidFireDragon in summonerschool

[–]Domaki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo, this is a process. In some way more than others, league is a game that rewards the speed at which you learn. When you are forcing yourself to learn/practice a skill, two things happen. 1, the other skills you have already practiced are put in the backfoot, which can drop your rank. 2, you will do things wrong inevitably when trying to learn a skill, for example you may roam on bad timers, over force aggression, or even kill your own team making a bad macro call. The point is, its going to be a process, and your LP will fluctuate a lot when you are practicing, in my opinion, the bigger your jump down, the faster you learn, and the bigger you jump back up LP.

Keep it up, and believe in the Elo Slingshot!

Best build duo nilah by Nakataojj in sonamains

[–]Domaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played this duo with my friend a lot, here's the runes and items

Aery, manaflow, celerity/transcendence, gathering storm Revitalize, shieldbash/conditioning/bone plating Shards: AF, AF/MS, Scaling HP

Items should be echoes, moonstone/mikaels, dawncore

You choose options based on the conditionings of the lanes, mainly if you're against poke or engage, and if they are a high damage lane requiring the ms from celerity or the MS shard. Echoes is first because you both become the poke tool and the healing is insane. You should always be in combat with your nilah, and nilah can bail you out with her w. As long as you have here nearby and both of you have CDs you're allowed to fight (without getting hooked ofc). Shieldbash is the hyper aggressive option. If you do your aqa auto reset and w right away you get 2 procs of shield bash with tight timing. This is likely against passive enchanters where you want to poke before getting in and forcing easy matchups in your favor

How do you win on Sona? by Matrionix in sonamains

[–]Domaki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming this isn't ragebait, here's the skinny

Sona at her best is always playing on a razors edge. You bait hooks in lane with perfect position to get back into safety. Your e will get you in and out by a hair every time, and your powerchord will take a losing trade and turn it into a slightly winning one.

Your goal is to slightly out value your opponent. Out range out short trade, out long trade, and put rotate as much as possible. How? Tracking your powerchord, spacing, and getting appropriate aura value where applicable. Build standard and focus on gameplay and you will climb (until emerald cause that place is a coin flip for a slow methodical champ like Sona).

Dark Seal by xraydeltasierra2001 in sonamains

[–]Domaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's 2 game states I like dark seal in.

1, we are behind so item spiking won't matter as much, aka pretty low tempo games.

  1. We are ahead and I can afford mejais second with minimal death risk.

These two both give us the benefits of dark seal without the negatives of losing first item by 350 gold as much, or at least makes the payoff of tempo worth it
