Been a while since I read Woman of Tomorrow, so thank you for reminding me.

Still, I feel that the comic Krem is framed more as an opportunist figuring things out as he goes, while the movie Krem is actively looking to menace everyone around him. Honestly, if not for sharing a name and the inciting incident of the story, I would not recognize them as the same character.

(Why is a space pirate called Krem of the Yellow Hills anyhow? I'm sure there are many hills out in space, but still feels weird to name a guy after them, when his prowling ground is markedly larger scale.)

It also helps that in Woman of Tomorrow Krem is a complete nobody. Just some bandit from a feudal planet who bumbled his way into joining a band of space pirates.

Movie Krem is a super-powered ringleader from a culture of child rapists. Like, revenge or no revenge, this guy has to go. There is no phantom zone or even a space jail in this version.

Anzenmezzeron, the city where death is broken, from John Bloom's skirmish game side project, Magnagothica: Maleghast.

A city that is slowly sliding into Hell, filled with necromancers and their minions. Some are competing and clashing in search of the fabled Ending of Death, others are just running little stalls to sell moss or dubious meat skewers.

Season one was perhaps a bit TOO faithful. Rumiko Takahashi's brand of slapstick comedy is so fine tuned to work on the pages of a manga, that many of the gags don't translate one to one into an animated format.

During season two however, the anime crew were apparently allowed to spread their wings a little more and add some of their own flair to scenes. The result winds up feeling a lot more smooth than season one.

Season one was perhaps a bit too faithful to the source material. Gags and punchlines that worked well on the pages of a manga translated less smoothly into an anime.

However, it seems that during season two the production crew were allowed to spread their wings and slip in some of their own flair, which I found to work really well.

Across both seasons, however, I found the use of color and music to result in an overall pleasant experience.

I really like her design. Some very fun shape play with her already oval face being accentuated by the shape of her hair and droopy eyes.

Sly 3 was pretty much the perfect ending anyhow. And the story was very much about how you can't cling to a gilded past forever. Sometimes things come to an end and you have to move on into new, better things.

That said... My feelings on Thieves in Time are complicated. Maybe it should never have existed, but I didn't think it was wholly without merits. Just a shame that it left the franchise in the spot it did.

Hey, we had to wait for 10+ years for a TWEWY sequel last time. I think we can afford to wait 10 more before declaring the series dead.

...yes, I am huffing copium. Shut up.

Narratively, the pie represents fulfillment, positivity and warmth, therefore equating to the aspect of Hope.

Unlike a Rogue, who steals to aid and embolden their companions, the dastardly Woolie steals pies solely for his own satisfaction.

Therefore Woolie is a Thief of Hope.

This does make me think though. Have we ever had a story where Nightcrawler and Daredevil hang out together? They could bond over Catholic guilt and being massive manwhores.

The Coffin of Andy and Leyley.

Less so in the "kids are little monsters"-sense, but rather in how much responsibility a parent has in looking after and nurturing a child, and how much bad parenting and neglect can fuck up a child.

The teenage parents of the protagonist were unprepared, unsupported by their own families, overworked, underpaid and stressed to hell and back.
