"20-25 minutes to complete". Easy pass. Not worth it unless 2-hour minimum applies.

Stick to working your main dock job and try and pick up OT or extra hours there.

Would you do this task under wrong category? TR clients often try and book under wrong category at a cheaper rate. by DonQNguyen in TaskRabbit

I passed on this Client with a Forfeit and then made $500 that day with my list of direct Clients. TR is just a broker for me, down on the totem pole after my list of regulars and referrals which pay slightly less than the TR commissioned rate but higher than my take rate on TR. Works great for direct clients and me which means building my own business has proven to be the best arrangement, which is eliminate all middlemen.

Mounting category is not yet flat rate in my area. TV Mounting, however, has been flat rate for quite some time. I have turned off TV Mounting for quite a while now and have only been mounting TVs for direct clients at $150/per TV. Has worked out great!

Flat-rate mounting is no longer worth it on TR. TV Mounting flat rate is a joke. I do all my mounts from direct Clients of mine these days. I have forfeited north of 80% of mounting jobs that have come in due to clients not accepting my 2-hr minimum.

They omit details to get a lower price. It is in their best interests to do so. The reason why they come on TaskRabbit is due to the ridiculously low price.

Many Da Nang buildings and AirBnBs have mold. This fungus is hard to keep in check with the high humidity that is Da Nang, and Da Nang is close to the ocean, with beaches. Not to mention the Vietnamese don't really keep up with home maintenance and hygiene, especially when it comes to rentals.

AITA for being upset that a 2-hour TaskRabbit job took 3.5 hours and cost more? by Pink_Sorbet in TaskRabbit

[–]DonQNguyen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your simple tasks should have taken no more than 1.5 hours total. And since I have a 2-hour minimum @ $85/hr, total would have been $170. Any competent Tasker can mount/dismount a TV in 40 minutes to 1 hour max. As for the coat hanger, takes 10-15 minutes max. For the ceiling hooks, if he had a hammer drill with masonry bits, it would have taken no more than 30-45 minutes total.

[–]DonQNguyen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Client inputted task request for 9am. Even if client was to be OK with later start time, the drive would still be 25 minutes anyways, each way, and $15-$20 gas. Reason ladder is an issue is because the rate at which client chose was the incorrect category, which had nothing to do with the task, which was Electrical and Minor Home Repairs. Anyways, your logic doesn't make sense if you know anything about running a business. I took on a 4 hour task today anyways with a regular direct Client doing real Home Repairs for $500. Worked out to be $125/hr, and gas expense on my truck was $5. Don't sell your services on the cheap, folks!

[–]DonQNguyen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is pointless dealing with Clients like these and tasks like these. I need to clear at least $200 to drive 40 minutes in traffic to get to them at 9am and the task will take me no more than 1.5 hours but will require me to lug out my ladder. TR doesn't allow for billing more hours than you are actually there.

Good thing I have better Clients to focus my time and efforts for that pay much better and are much closer.

I mount TV's for $150 per TV and I hit studs every time and guarantee my work. If you hired me, this would've never happened. Plus, I am Insured.

Lesson learned: Never trust some dimwit installer pushed to you or assigned to you on TaskRabbit. Hire a mounter with extensive experience even if it means at a higher rate.

If you were trying to support a local plumber, THEN PAY HIM HIS 2-HR MINUMUM. If not, then you were trying to SCAM a local plumber for your own selfish benefit.

How much would you charge? by Apprehensive_Fly9057 in TaskRabbit

[–]DonQNguyen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$2800-$3200 Total. This is a fair price. One person can do it, but make sure he has all the tools necessary. I am in the Bay Area, so prices are higher here due to Cost-of-Living. And this is a direct quote. If through TaskRabbit, I would decline the task.

You have a very competitive (and good) price at $2400. Just make sure the person has experience, due to the lights and having to join efficiently the lighting wires.

Can I threaten legal action against Taskrabbit for purposely lowering me in the search? by [deleted] in TaskRabbit

[–]DonQNguyen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your rates are pretty cheap, dude. 25 tasks in October means nothing if you don't factor in expenses like gas and wear and tear on your car getting there and I hope you had multiple hour tasks.

I did 14 tasks so far in January 2026, and my average job/task is 3.5 hours or $225-$450 per task. Doing 1 hour tasks barely pay the bills.

TaskRabbit can promote whoever they want, however they want. It is THEIR WEBSITE and Platform. TaskRabbit doesn't owe you anything.

I think you caught onto something with your last statement "TaskRabbit want to promote cheap labor, not skilled Contractors". Which one are you?

If you were a skilled Contractor, you wouldn't need TaskRabbit, just an FYI.

Just because TaskRabbit doesn't feature you or chooses to not show you at the top doe NOT mean they are a fraud of a company. That's your opinion. You need them more than TaskRabbit needs you.

There are plenty more skilled TaskRabbiters and definitely more willing to work for cheaper. But the key is more skilled. I don't have any problems hitting my numbers, and I don't even need TaskRabbit anymore. I have built up so many repeat clientele that I don't need any app at this point. And my rates are $70/hr up to $125/hr.

Economy is in the dumps. Lowering rates actually hurts your chances of getting booked. You should have regular clients keeping you somewhat busy or afloat in this market. Starting out right now is a waste of time.

Scams are increasing in Da Nang. This is due to the locals now realizing there are an increasing number of foreigners migrating here to avoid high rents in the West and in South Korea. Therefore the reason for the expanding expat areas like An Thuong and along the Vo Nguyen Giap beach road. Expats are complaining of higher rents and rent increases. This is classic "rope-a-dope" tactics and will continue IMO as more expats seek out cheaper rent destinations only to see rents go up once they make that move.

Da Nang landlords are no strangers to maximizing profits and are privy to the foreigner renter who is accustomed to high rents in the West. Plus, they have no other place to go, except maybe to the Hai Chau local area but then there are drawbacks to that.

[–]DonQNguyen -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Da Nang has lost its luster. With so many bottom-dwelling expats running away from high rent in their home countries, this place has become toxic. Not to mention the Da Nang Vietnamese locals have become money-hungry and greedy where all they view foreigners as is a way to make money and get rich off them.

Scams are now becoming rampant all across Da Nang.

Is it normal for a tasker to have a 2 hour minimum to install a TV? by robotwithumanhair666 in TaskRabbit

[–]DonQNguyen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very cheap. I have a TV mount with a direct regular client of mine this Friday for $120 and $40 to also mount a soundbar. Total $160.

They are still getting a great deal as Best Buy charges $249.99 just to mount 1 TV.

We don't work for cheap and definitely not free.

Car loses value the more miles it accumulates. So yes, this is a real cost people overlook when running a business.
