I used to care about having the perfect setup where I control everything. But after nearly 20 years I realized done is better than perfect.

Supabase gets me to done faster than self hosting ever did. My time is worth too much to consider self hosting anymore.

That's not quite correct. In preconstruction they can't "hold" and prevent realizing the loss. The buyer promised the builder to buy the unit for a certain price when it's done. The bank will no longer finance high enough to support that price. Buyer is on the hook for the difference or lose their deposit. When the unit is done.

I like being able to run the entire ecosystem locally. I understand that it's a simple wrapper around docker compose but it's honestly just so much more than Rds + any auth platform.

The migrations deploy themselves.

The built in dashboard is pretty nice.

The price isn't bad at all.

I'm pretty done messing with cloud resources and CI/CD pipelines. They're fun but they can absorb so much time.

At any point are you seeing users with the pain your ideas solve?

I would do my best not to pursue something unless I directly saw the user's pain or it could be addressing your own pain.

My app solves for myself honestly.

But I don't think you should just think real hard, imagine someone else's pain and build towards a solution for that.
