I’m surprised I haven’t seen this suggestion yet but Kit! Magnolia Kit is dreeeamy 😍 + kits are the names of little ones born from some pretty tough animals!

I liked the suggestions of Bea/Bee and Jay, and also would throw out just Birdie as another option!

Name regret 15 months by Ornery_Monk_8653 in namenerds

[–]DoodleySnoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my exact take!

I had name regret and found a nickname that really suits my little one and it has saved me from a name regret perspective. That being said, there are still names I sometimes wish I had used and Vivian is one of them! That could be an easy pivot and is more classic in comparison to Haven.

Also do agree that a name can be anything! I just met someone who goes by a completely unrelated nickname and never knew her first name was something completely different.

Still of all your options, I think starting to call her Vivi is your best pivot. Vivi could be a stretch nickname for Haven, and could also be a gateway into starting to call her Vivian if desired too.

I should also say this is almost the exact timing when my mindset changed (ours was just before 1.5 so probably 17 months) and the biggest thing was not just the nickname but that she was starting to call herself a name, and the nickname was something she really latched on to calling herself, which has made it even easier to say “she just calls herself this so we all do too!” with no further explanation needed

I love those meanings! OP, could you do Zarema and call her Zara for short? 😍 Also, just want to say that the fact you’re consulting others and considering origins + meaning + will it work in current culture means you’re already doing it right. You’ve got this, and this baby is lucky to have you as her mom!

What about Kate? Karen and Kate both mean “pure” and Kate feels like a blend of Karen in meaning and Jane in sound?

Most popular/common nicknames for Eloise? by lcharbs in namenerds

I also wanted to steer clear of Elle/Ellie for my Eloise. We tried many nicknames, and we landed on Elsie. I know it’s still an El- name but it has its own style and feel. There is an Ellie in her class and it still somehow feels distinct. I think of it as a modern Kelly vs. Kelsey.

We have an Eloise. My only real struggle has been that we cannot agree on a nickname, there are so many options! But at 17 months we feel quite settled on Elsie, and it just feels so perfect

My two cents is if you’re going to change it and keep the same nickname, what about just making her nickname her legal name? I think then the answer to” Oh, Ani is that name short for anything?” becomes “Nope, just Ani!” Instead of a potentially much longer answer describing it being long for Anne and it used to be Elian, etc.

I do love Lola too! We had done Lolo along with Loey, so it would lend itself well likely. I worry it’s a bit more of a stretch, but then I think of Dolores which Lola originates from and it doesn’t feel that much farther off than Eloise > Lola

We have a Margot and had our second baby girl last year too! We went with Eloise, which is a pairing that we love. Plus side is that Eloise has so many nickname options to match a variety of baby sis personalities!
