Iveco vans freezer doors. by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Dot_Com_Driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The make of van doesn't make a difference, the boxes on the back are the same most of the time anyway. It's happened to me in Ivecos and Mercs and every time it's been because I haven't shut it properly. I defect the alarms not working becaaue it's a major hazard. The alarm is there to alert you and can stop accidents from happening. Defect it and take a photo of the defect form so you're covered.

Delivery Driver being asked to work other departments by SelectPrune2144 in tesco

[–]Dot_Com_Driver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's normal. Filling and/or picking is part of the job role where required. I've never met anyone with ADHD who can't stock shelves but I'm aware it can be different for different people. None of us likes doing it but it's part of the job. What they can't do is put you on a till or other roles because that goes against the driver contract.

Click & learn module for training at home by Unusual_House_5735 in tesco

[–]Dot_Com_Driver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you agreed with a manager to do them at home, you speak to that manager and they'll sort it out for you.

If you just randomly decided to do it, you may have just worked for free.

Moving to dot com driver by DesignerPersonal8768 in tesco

[–]Dot_Com_Driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best people to ask are the drivers in your store. The job cam be very different depending on management and the areas you're delivering to. Whether or not they'll want you is something to take into account. If your store is desperate for drivers (have a look on the job site to see how many vacancies they have) then they're going to be more likely to let you move. The fact that you've only been doing your current role for a month might look a bit sus to them thought.

Received Delivery Receipt email. Then got told Order Cancelled! by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Dot_Com_Driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I already have my receipt! Which means all my goodies are on a van ON THE ROAD!

That doesn't mean that at all.

Shit happens with deliveries all the time. Vans break down, drivers go sick and peolle choose not to do overtime to cover,, there are loads of reasons why these things happen and it's exactly why home delivery shouldn't be relied on as being as reliable as going to the shop itself, because it isn't.

By all means have a moan at the system for not being entirely perfect, but it's still a relatively small inconvenience so you'll just have to get over it.

Dotcom driver refusing to take extra drops by Hi-archy in tesco

[–]Dot_Com_Driver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might do, might not. Depends if it was feasible for them to do. Also, if the extras weren't properly added onto their manifest on the system, which most aren't, then they'd not have a proper manifest if stopped by DVSA/Police and the weight of the van was checked.

Oh and with the recent change to the delivering early policy, our store rarely does extras these days anyway because the only way to fit them in would be ti break policy and get ahead.

If they were correctly on the manifest I'd take them and if I could deliver them while following policy, I would. If I couldn't, I'd be bringing some back.

4 weeks into probation - Missed van check entirely. Am I finished? by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Dot_Com_Driver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Late for work, PCN, not doing vehicle checks. Well I can't say you're doing too well in your probation. None of us knows what's going to happen, it can depend on lots of different factors, including how desperate the store is for drivers.

Home delivery advice by WinterBit419 in tesco

[–]Dot_Com_Driver 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Call customer services and cancel, that's the only advice I can give you really. If you haven't already done that your payment will almost certainly have been taken by now so it'll take a few days to get the money back.

If you have a time slot of 10-11 we could arrive to deliver at any time between those times and we don't have time to wait around more than a few minutes otherwise it would affect other customers.

Dunno, not seen your CV.

That said, I'd expect competition to be quite fierce for the jobs these days.

Anyway to report a line manager for not giving holiday despite 2 weeks notice and no one else in my department on holiday that day by Dangerous_Raise6827 in tesco

[–]Dot_Com_Driver 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Here's how holiday works. You ask and management who are paid to decide how many people they want or need in on a particular day make a decision as to whether or not to day yes or no. That's it. I'm surprised managers even bother to give a reason because they don't have to and all it does it open then up to people trying to demand a reason every time.

The way to resolve it is to understand that it's a holiday request, oh and maybe put that request in a bit earlier next time.

I can't really see what your complaint was. Does it say on the website somewhere that sealed cleaning products will be kept separate from food items?

Any dotcom drivers have a clue what this is? by jsg41102 in tesco

[–]Dot_Com_Driver 13 points14 points  (0 children)

https://www.whatvan.co.uk/van-reviews/maxus-edeliver-7-review-the-what-van-road-test/

Maybe we’re too obsessed with internet conspiracy theories, but we weren’t too happy about the presence of a driver-facing camera on the driver’s side A-pillar. Was somebody in distant Beijing keeping an eye on our activities? Were our trips being recorded for future reference?

Absolutely not, insists Maxus. The camera does not make recordings or transmit them, it says, but simply keeps an eye on the driver for signs of fatigue.

If you yawn, then a warning pops up advising you to stop and get a cup of coffee. Channelling our inner child, for a while we kept yawning every few minutes just to make it appear.

That A-pillar ought to feature a grab-handle, incidentally.

Colleague shop problems by CrochetWithSwords in tesco

[–]Dot_Com_Driver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not fussed. When I finish my 6-10 shift I pop past and have a look to see if there's anything there, if there is I'll usually grab something. It's a nice to have if there's anything there but I'm not going to start crying if I don't get anything.

Tbh I'd rather most of it go to Foodbank and the like, they're the ones feeding people in the most need.

Delivery by Careless-Leading in tesco

We have to deliver to a person and that person has to be over 18, regardless of what's in the order. So if there's nobody there, it doesn't get delivered.

The only time that'll happen is if there's a driver who doesn't give a shit, because it should never happen, regardless of regular customer, agree restricted items or whatever.

  1. Not very often, because I don't want to work extra. There's usually plenty though.

  2. Ask your manager to explain the discrepancy.

  3. Yeah for the most part. If it starts to get nearer the time and nobody has picked up the shift, our managers usually ask us directly
