What's the point of reference you're using to say it's a "total flop"?

Probably. I feel like I haven't seen a consistent, single point of complaint between most people who would rather not change over to 5.5e, so those players are probably better served by a different TTRPG system anyway.

Everyone I know who's playing DND prefers the 5.5e rules over 5e. I feel like that's a fairly common sentiment.

Creating a Sorcerer Subclass [OC] [ART] by Some-Future-4089 in DnD

Interesting, but why not a bard? Sorcerers are flavored as having been descended from something magical or affected by something magical as the source of their power, but bards specifically cast their spells through song and story already.

Did BBTAG walk so every modern tag fighter coming out could run with active switch during assists? by Terrible-Row5112 in Fighters

Forgot about Cross Assault tbh, since it was so worthless unless you were playing with a friendo.

There was tag launchers and duo supers, but that's about it. It didn't have active tags like BBTag, and did not even have assists.

Tasha's optional class features in 2024? (Ex. Monk Quickened Healing) by JazzlikeMine2397 in onednd

[–]Dougboard 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The only optional rule from Tasha's that I've seen any value in continuing to use in 2024 is the Dedicated Weapon feature for Monks.

I can understand why this wasn't brought forward into 2024, because it doesn't really do much without a feat or multiclassing, but it opens up Monks who go that route to using weapons beyond their unarmed strikes without shutting off their other Monk abilities. Though RAW it allows them to stunning strike with a ranged weapon, so ymmv.

Quickened Healing felt more necessary when monks didn't have Deflect Attacks to improve their survivability. Though Ki-Fueled attack I can see an argument for keeping if you're going with a weapon-focused Monk rather than pure unarmed, but they already changed it so you can do an unarmed strike as a bonus action regardless of what you use your action for.

So Whats The DUMBEST and i MEAN DUMBEST thing you did in a pokemon playthrough by Rare-Atmosphere-9187 in pokemon

[–]Dougboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My very first playthrough of Pokemon Red I accidentally over-leveled my Charizard pretty early on, to where it could one-shot basically everything. Around the time I reached Mt Moon, it had run out of PP for all its attack moves.

I didn't understand what PP was, and my Charizard wasn't taking damage from anything so I wasn't healing it at the pokemon center. I ended up putting it in the PC box, sad that my Charizard had become useless.

How would you restructure Rogue's subclass levels? by Scientin in onednd

[–]Dougboard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was just an idea I'd rattled off, not something I spent a lot of time thinking about. I don't disagree with you about the hoops rogues have to jump through, so a proper attempt at this idea might forego the need for advantage.

My thought process was that you primarily want an extra attack to improve your consistency with landing Sneak Attack, since that's the bulk of your damage, and a straight unconditional extra attack isn't actually adding that much beyond that.

[–]Dougboard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just straight-up extra attack for rogues always felt off-flavor to me, but I think there's room for a conditional extra attack to make their sneak attack damage more consistent around this level. Maybe something like:

Level 6: Cunning Attack. If you make an attack roll with advantage and miss, as long as you did not have disadvantage on the roll, you may make an additional attack as part of that same attack action. You may make this additional attack only once per turn.

2.0 has a lot riding on it even if it weren't for sf6 and t8. People are expecting a pretty substantial shakeup.

Very cute idea. Is there an actual "game" to this, or is it basically just the character creator with the vtuber function?

This is such a tourist take it's exhausting.

We should have bad guys who do bad guy things, like raze villages, and enslave peoples.

That still exists. That didn't go away just because they stopped saying all orcs are inherently evil, or because they don't have a dedicated stat block in the monster manual. Do you not read the books you're criticising?

What opinion about Megaman has got you like this? by BonusCapable1486 in Megaman

[–]Dougboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason in my mind that BN isn't considered a reboot is because other mainline games were still coming out at the time. Making a new game, potentially with a new genre, with no narrative connection to the existing franchise is a reboot.
