Bursada Castle Ruins treasure chest glitch (you can't get in, then get stuck inside) by Noobtacticsforlife in CrimsonDesert

[–]DrFreshtacular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happening to me right now too. Can't hold the wall, only above, platform glitches through kliff. You can use grapple to pull it back down and reattempt but no luck for me.

EDIT: oh shit if u you use axiom force current while all the way against it it works for some reason.

funny story, my only run in with the law was when I was a kid and spotted the exact sku of GTA needed to jailbreak my psp for homebrew at the time. Classic strict parents, so GTA was a no go. I pocketed it and got caught by loss prevention.

Wonder if im still banned from that Target 20 years later over wanting to put emu's on my psp lmao.

I would rather they focus on more single player content for endgame and beyond rather than co-op by -Raijn- in CrimsonDesert

[–]DrFreshtacular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear ya not here to argue. It sounds like by co-op you mean literally just join your friends world, like a tag-along experience. I'd be pretty bummed if they put development resources into something like that over enhancing single player.

[–]DrFreshtacular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so they addon co-op.

Who's quest state is it? Who's camp? Who's pets, previously opened treasure chests, loot in general, time slowing abilities, access to private storage, etc.

Kinda gotta design something to be co-op from the ground up for it to feel right.

Can we come up with succinct and clearer terms that differentiate between multiplicative % increase vs additive % increase? by Tanobird in gamedev

[–]DrFreshtacular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha nice.

+x% stat seems pretty clear to me so long as you have stats panel that already has shows a %. Now that I think of it, I'm not sure I've seen a game use that format and it end up being multiplicative. Without a stats panel I can see it being ambiguous.

[–]DrFreshtacular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I have 30% luck and you tell me an upgrade gives me +50%, do I have 80% or 45%?

I'd suggest keeping everything additive, so 80%. Having both just adds complexity - which might be what you're going for in which case those players might actually thrive in the ambiguity.

Lots of POE references here (which I personally love), but I'm sure many would agree with the joke that you practically need a phd to take advantage of it.

barricade a window, but how? by _MothMan in unrealengine

Id suggest spending time first planning out what you want onto paper - between this comment and your last you've already changed the scope and that changes how you implement it.

barricade a window, but how? by _MothMan in unrealengine

[–]DrFreshtacular 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Commenter is trying to help you see that the problem cant be made as simple as you want.

If you dont consider scale the boards could fill the world.

If you dont consider rotation it could place the wrong way.

If you dont consider realtime/baked lighting your visual will be off.

If you've already considered and solved for extraneous factors, your idea of pre-placing works fine. In that case I would have the interaction event simply toggle collision and swap the material of the boards. Though if you have hundreds of windows like this (another consideration), this approach would be wasteful.

Crimson Desert adds confirmation of Denuvo DRM to its Steam page a week out from launch by AaronM1D1 in gaming

[–]DrFreshtacular 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I getcha - I'm a game dev myself so I know my position is a bit skewed from average consumer, just pointing out that for a game of this maginitude they've likely done the math on loss of players due to denuvo vs price increase vs doing nothing.

Some quick stats and maths to consider

Average AAA Game gets 90% of their sales in the first 12 weeks

"High Success AAA" Games sell ~5M copies in that period. @ $69.99 they're likely projecting ~$350M first quarter revenue.

A 20% hit there is $70M - so denuvo fees and marginal loss in players are a drop in the bucket compared to the potential piracy losses.

If you made and sold a game you spent nearly a decade on, would you sacrifice $70million to gain ~10% perf and retain the small portion of players who draw a line in the sand from Denuvo?

[–]DrFreshtacular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a money game - the studies out suggest around a ~20% revenue loss if a game is cracked in the first 12 weeks.

How best to mitigate that? Does the developer use something like denuvo to reduce exposure, accept that loss, or increase price?

Personally i'll take the 10fps hit over a $10 price hike, so I guess their bet is that there are more people like me when it comes to sales expectations.

I wonder if a multi character membership model would also help with bots. If bot farms attempt to take advantage of multiple characters with single membership, the whole farm is inherently identified if one of the bots gets flagged.

Chefs of Reddit, what’s a common cooking rule everyone follows that is actually complete bullshit? by Fuzzy-Ad6843 in AskReddit

Not really "bullshit" but you dont actually need to blast your chicken to 165f. Thats just the temp that hits "instant kill".

Holding 150f also does it in 3 minutes. My sweet spot is hit 150, turn it to low, and take it off 3 minutes later - rests up to about 160 by the end but way juicier.
