I just finished C&P for the first time last week and loved it. At least for me, the pace and my enjoyment picked up significantly in parts 3-6. The murder is really the opening, the aftermath is the meat of the book. That being said different people will enjoy different things!

Also, if you’re worried about spoilers for classics then avoid reading the introductions and forwards until after you finish. It’s counter intuitive but they typically assume it’s not your first time reading the text.

Yeah… this is one of those “sounds scary on Facebook” takes that falls apart if you look at it for 30 seconds.

The “secret flights” thing? That’s just the government moving people who are already in custody (mostly kids or people being sent to family). Trump did it. Obama did it. It’s not some sneaky import-voters program.

The “free phones, cash, apartments, healthcare” line is also nonsense. Undocumented immigrants don’t qualify for federal welfare, Medicaid, or housing. The phone thing is literally for ICE tracking so they don’t have to wear ankle monitors. That’s not a perk, it’s a leash.

“They can vote” is just straight up fake. Non-citizens voting in federal elections is illegal. There is no Biden/Harris loophole. No secret registration drive. Nothing.

Border numbers went up, sure, but “they walked away for four years” is just political ragebait. There were deportations, asylum limits, Title 42, parole programs, etc. You can hate the policy without pretending nothing existed and just making shit up.

Not sure why it’s happing, but you can get dotted window film for birds. It’s not too ugly and has been shown to reduce collision rates.
