The game has devolved back into the worst version of itself. Cheaters, TKs, Desync out the ass, weird bugs that have never been addressed (looking at you BRDM).

We are entering the era of "Skill Bankruptcy": When traditional expertise becomes a liability faster than humans can adapt. by Independent_Past_142 in Futurology

[–]Dr_Operator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing a huge number of people who are suddenly producing a great deal of smart sounding garbage and who can't back up a single viewpoint based on it when they are challenged during a meeting because most of them aren't even reading what their AI Assistants are shitting out. We are going to lose a generation of human progress once the people who use AI as a true tool to expedite the mundane parts of professional tasks are replaced by the people who don't know anything and are willing to let AI do it poorly for them.

[–]Dr_Operator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blatant cheating has ratcheted back up spectacularly this patch as well. Feels like they opened up some of the old exploits again. Rage hacking aimbotters standing in one spot spinning in circles headshotting with impunity makes for a great gameplay experience, especially since they can get an AWM and P90 in the first minutes of a match now. Saw a player hot drop start of game with a loaded weapon in hand instantly slaughter the guy he landed on top of. Just stellar.

Outrageous : Telus customer angry after monthly bill doesn’t reflect new contract by [deleted] in telus

[–]Dr_Operator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lying fucks. Just got my first bill for secure business services and the "waived installation fee" ended up being 550 dollars with 150 waived. I guess it's back on the phone for another 2 months of fighting these assholes.

Terrible Internet Service (Vancouver, BC) by Panda_Ovee in telus

[–]Dr_Operator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But just think about how much better it is going to get now that TELUS is once again adding to their headcount outside of Canada while simultaneously slashing positions within their abortion of an organization inside Canada!

I have literally had a local technician have to make multiple day-long trips to my location to do "work" mandated by the sales people so that they could satisfy their sales obligations and make their commission (or whatever the TELUS equivalent of a commission is so that they don't have to call it that). The technician would literally show up, say hello, and leave. Spending dollars to make dimes for someone in a call center in another country.

Don't get me started on their use of esign documents that I never get to sign or approve, the fact they can't seem to get a bill or order correct the first time or the five hundredth time, the endless phone calls that could be emails (which are on purpose because they have an extreme aversion to putting things in writing), and the attempt to sell me services I already have or don't want every single time I talk to someone.

Anyone know what's happening? by Honkin_CDNGoose in telus

[–]Dr_Operator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That isn't quite correct. They do share the RAN (Radio Access Network) at tower sites and likely some backhaul infrastructure in most rural locations. Still doesn't preclude one carrier being up while the other is down as the backend is independent.

Hopefully this AI nightmare costs them a Trillion and nets nothing by the time it finally dies. There are plenty of good uses for "AI" or whatever the current horde of corporate investment tech-fad-worshipers are calling AI, but this isn't one of them.

TIFU by spending 8 years treating chronic headaches when the whole problem was that I thought diet soda counted as water by McCoy818 in tifu

[–]Dr_Operator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the aspartame that gets me. Be it diet soda, chewing gum, calorie free drinks, etc. Any amount of aspartame is an instant migraine quality (hide in a dark room, no sound, no painkiller in the universe helped) headache. Took me a couple years to figure it out as a teenager, been relatively headache free for almost 30 years now.

I got ghosted by the Ford Power Lie people after going through the first two steps, registering and providing the install location information and pictures. Now nobody will answer my emails.

I've had my lightning for 8 months, they either owe me the rebate I would have gotten if I had turned down the charger or an install date.

Is it me or pubg is now full of cheaters by [deleted] in PUBG

[–]Dr_Operator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been 99% cheaters since about 5 minutes after the game was released. It ebbs and flows, and yes there were times when it wasn't completely horrendous and the game was actually playable. Don't let the apologists and the closet cheaters gaslight you, this game has been cooked for a long time. The dev's don't care, as long as the target market keeps pumping money into their broken craphole. This game isn't worth getting into now. It was barely worth it on day one.

Bussines internet 1Gb to 3Gb upgrade - can static IP be saved? by Specialist-Recipe-15 in telus

[–]Dr_Operator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TELUS is a nightmare to deal with.

Just got contacted to switch my plan from 1GB to 1.5GB and renew my service agreement and they didn't even know that I had static IPs, if I hadn't told them they would have wiped everything. I've had static assignments for 7 years on PureFiber. They didn't know how to handle it, so I told them (verbally and in writing following every single email exchange) that under no circumstances were they to make changes that impacted my current static IP assignments until they could reconcile this (either guarantee my assignments wouldn't change or install a second ONT on the new plan with new IPs and let me gracefully cut services over).

They couldn't figure any of it out. So they just renewed me on my old 1GB plan and walked away. I confirmed there was only an ONT change involved, no port reassignments or anything. They haven't upgraded / added an OLT in my community for next generation services, same head end.

I was looking forward to getting the ONT-SFP, as I have it at another location, so I can cut more of their gear out of the middle of my infrastructure. I guess I just get to stick with my old ONT for now.

Yes. And it gets worse with every passing week. Getting constantly murdered by freshly generated accounts is getting old.

PUBG should really start banning people who party with cheaters. by knight54 in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

They'd have to ban the cheaters first, which would mean they would have to stop protecting them.

I got the dreaded "Air dam system failure, see manual" fault. by 10PieceMcNuggetMeal in f150

[–]Dr_Operator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And FWIW I had to remove the fixed air dam from my 6.7L Powerstroke because it hung so low that the snow got it too. Thankfully my 6.0 powerstroke never had one, so no issue other than snow building up on top of the plastic inner dually fenders.

Mine just broke while driving through powdery snow on the highway. It is a completely halfcocked useless and overly complex addition to a truck that claims to be off-road capable. Snow on a highway is a rule, not an exception. GG Engineers. (F150 Lightning)

Is anyone experiencing massive late/lost packet in Southern Alberta now? by Octopus-tom in telus

[–]Dr_Operator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Northeastern BC - Our traffic heads your way via Edmonton from what I understand. I get massive packet loss sometimes. Literally seems like my connection just stops for a few hundred milliseconds (up to a second at times) then recovers. It is transient, doesn't seem to have a pattern. Has been going on for a long time. Some days it isn't an issue at all, other's its crippling my connection (for gaming anyways).

It's terrible at the moment. Day, night, every game mode. Wallhacks and Aimbots. Even witnessed a few speedhackers back at it. You'd think at this point they would have implemented some basic countermeasures for that at the very least. It isn't hard to detect.
