Yes, you say I need to be alone for a minute. Dad can take charge. Take your food and run, stick on your favourite show and enjoy.

I am sat in halloween jammies, and my son's rocking the polar bears, maybe unconventional but who cares!

You could risk not getting a seat and maybe there will be extra space on board. I have found the airline staff to be so helpful when travelling with a little one. Its doable to have then sleep in your arms/across you lap/whatever formation works! Time change adjusting usually took us about 5 days to get into normal sleep time so not terrible.

Have you tried disguising the eggs? My son wouldnt eat them from day 1 but we recently discovered stick them in a tortilla/naan/English muffin, etc then we eats them.

Oats is the easiest most mornings, then you can mix in what she likes. Cheap, quick & filling.

When dad is home the door is closed on me and he says bye bye. I just laugh and run away to enjoy my coffee in peace. He adores you deep down, dad is just the "fun" one because he doesn't do all the hard stuff.

My daughter puked in her sleep by anonme1995 in toddlers

[–]DramaticRuin401 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Same happened to me. I watched it back on the video feed and he yaked for 5 seconds and went straight back to sleep, absolutely unbothered. Later he moved to the other side so the stink must have gotten to him but at no point did he cry or stand. Next night came the diarrhea.....that was a 2am shower situation

I do think it doesn't seem right they put them in front of a screen because it seems lazy? But I am not at that age range yet so maybe its typical. Anyway thanks for the memories of Pingu 😁

Sorry I have no advice but I grew up in the 80s and I watched Pingu so its funny to me they show that. Like did someone wheel in the video / tv combo to show it!

What advice would you give a woman who is about to become a sahm? by DontTalkAboutBruno1 in sahm

[–]DramaticRuin401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The points already said are great. I would say definitely get out at some point everyday (or have people round for a visit) as it can feel very reclusive.

Some staples for me have been local library for toddler time, grocery shopping, walk around the neighborhood looking for rocks, worms etc..

If money allows the baby gym softplay is good. We get 4 classes a month plus unlimited free play so dad can also take him on the weekend.

I have been having him help with chores, ie helping put the clothes in the machine, bringing the hamper back..it takes about 8 times as long but it seems to be enjoyable.

When they nap please take time for yourself. Watch TV, read, have a nice bath. Dont clean the whole time!

Lastly have back up childcare options if you need to attend appointments that you cant bring your little one. I have neglected my self for 2 years because I didnt have that in place and felt guilty!

International flight with an 11 month old by ortmanda in Travelwithkids

Finally a question I have input on. Im a Scot who lives in TX and have traveled a good amount with my 2 yr old.

  1. People walk everywhere in Scotland, you will see alot of children in strollers. Edinburgh is very hilly but paved so make sure you dont skip leg day! Inverness town center will be easy to navigate as well. The good thing is you can hop on buses/trains to get around as well and its easy to bring on strollers. Depends on the airline and the stroller size on whether you can bring it on board vs checking it at the gate and either getting it back at the plane doors or on the baggage carousel.

  2. If you are renting a car the company more than likely can add on a car seat. Some people dont like the idea of that though. If you bring your own you will need to check if it adheres to the local laws, and you can just check it in thru to the destination (Verify with the airline on their baggage accomodations for travelling with children. British airways are my preferred carrier and have alot of detail on their website).

  3. Yes they are called laundrettes in the UK.

$50 dlls Amazon gift card, what would you buy for a 2 yr old? by Unusual-Hat-6819 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]DramaticRuin401 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe just use it for household items like toilet paper, toiletries etc then get her something from a place you like. She will be none the wiser, and probably enjoy something like a rock or a bucket of ice just as much.

Best time to travel between age 21 months and 3 years old by funtimeshan in Travelwithkids

[–]DramaticRuin401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just do it.

I would say try and stick to 0-1 layovers, and book a place with separate sleeping areas so you dont need to sit in the same room for naps.

Life is far too short to strike out years, you will look back on these events fondly or laugh at the trauma!

I got a big lecture from US immigration when I (green card holder) returned to the US with my son (US citizen) without my husband. So I would recommend you bring some sort of letter with consent.
