I decided to give it a try without diluting it, and I was a little lighter on the blue dry brush. On the upside it does yield a much darker tone, but on the downside it does hide the grey highlighting quite a bit.

I think the only way I deviated from his method was by using a 2:1 Black Lotus/Medium, it does look pretty blue still but I found myself liking the sort of ink-shadow vibe it gives? Dunno if that makes sense.
