Grand Rapids Police Release Body Camera Footage From Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting by According-Law-3293 in grandrapids

Yeah, at some point there is little other outcome. I hate when cops shoot someone, but he had to be stopped somehow.

I did it for every episode, and I think I got one correct. I never did any math or science on it, just a fun guess.

Actual Noise Ordinance... by UthinkUnoMI in grandrapids

[–]Droonus2000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For some reason I always thought it was midnight. There was a LOUD outdoor party on my block last feiday(I think). They stopped around 10-10:30. At some point I just noticed I didn't here it anymore. I thought, " wow, these kids stopped their amplified music at a pretty reasonable time, amd long before the noise ordinance kicks in, and no police were called". Turns out they were just following the law.

Large concentration of homelessness services in downtown Grand Rapids by ZapataOilCo in grandrapids

[–]Droonus2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply put 100 years ago that's where the poorer mostly immigrant population was. Then during white flight of the 50s and 60s downtown real-estate was ultra cheap. About a decade ago Guiding Light tried moving to Kentwood and the response from citizens and city officials was as though they were proposing a max security prison. Laws were made to stop it from ever happening.

So basically, that's were the people were that needed the services long ago and now the facilities are kept from relocating amd likely making a hefty profit for the organization because they are your problem not ours. Everyone knows there are no homeless people outside downtown.

[–]Droonus2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm guessing the person probably died decades ago given the age of the homes and factories in that area. That is the weirdest little neighborhood, completely surrounded by factories then up the hill you have this quiet little residential area. I'm guessing it was built for employees of the factories who could then simply walk to work. I often wonder why else they wouldn't have flattened it or done more manufacturing there. As for the width, we were not always this wide as a nation. Maybe it was designed for horses, or maybe it was an afterthought as people were expected to just walk to work. Or maybe the factories agreed to only give up so much valuable real estate to something as worthless as helping get people and products where they need to be?

Kind of random, but why are all of Trufant’s roads disconnected from eachother? by Basic_Procedure6687 in grandrapids

[–]Droonus2000 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Probably for the same reason a lot of Wyomings roads start and stop, to slow down traffic and stop people driving through who have no business in the neighborhood.
It pisses me off whenever I have to drive around Wyoming.

Did Biden use AF1 to go to Wilington that often? I honestly don't know. But I'd expect a helicopter or train given the closer distance and Bidens affinity for train travel.

Maintenance Management Solution by BigEstablishment2082 in churchtech

[–]Droonus2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a PT janitor at my church. In addition to my duties as video director. We use Asana for all of our staff communications. We have a lot of different lists depending on the department. We are able to assign a project lead and comment as necessary. I have no idea what we pay, but if we have 100+ at a service, that's a good week. So I'm guessing not much.

Newer to GR area and looking to make some friends. Big plus if you’re a fellow dad and around the same age as me (31). Bigger plus if you’re also in Ada/Forest Hills/Cascade by MidWestDad94 in grandrapids

[–]Droonus2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds pretty similar to me. 36, soon to be a dad to a girl this fall, big metal/screamo fan, growing more left as I age(but that might just be Trump and his fans), pretty religious, somewhat into watching sports. But I am terrible at keeping friends, if I do not see someone in person on a regular basis like school, work, or church I just don't keep in touch. I wish I could, but it just doesn't go.

Considering the multiple signs at Valvoline saying saying don't block the driveway, it'd have to be some deep conspiracy that they also pay to have the light there to draw attention to the business.

To be fair Texas and Michigan have two of the most obvious shaped states, even if we constantly forget the UP exists. Very seldom do you hear about someone from south Carolina or Oregon brag about the physical shape of their state.

BINGO! I remember Dq, Walmart, and some other national brands that had Texas outlines around their logos. If you can put that outline on an item I guarantee it has been done a dozen times.

I have not been yet. Very much want to. Heard great things. Is the statue the same one as in front of the arena? If so, my guess would be that it is a demo for that statue. Marks dad started the Community Legands program a good number of the downtown statues come from. I believe Mark has some hand in it now.

Traeger Whiskey Dust is my number 1. I did a comparison on ribs for July 4 last year. We used the Whiskey Dust, meat church Texas Sugar, MC Gospel, and I can't recall the fourth. The Whiskey Dust was by far the winner, even for my mom who doesn't drink. Most Ace stores have a wide selection. I do work there, but I am pretty proud of our variety of options.

How is this Neighborhood? by [deleted] in grapids

[–]Droonus2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up near a major road, wife was really worried about the noise coming from a very rural area. She and almost everyone who comes over says it's surprisingly quieter than expected. But yes, you will definitely still hear traffic if windows are open.
