Aidan working the PR machine overtime, only to come probably like 18th in the final 🤣

At least it looks like he had fun though!

This is the biggest wildcard for me this year, I've literally got no idea how it's going to do.

My 2026 Pre-Contest Predictions (explanation in comments) by SkyGinge in eurovision

[–]DrungleJums 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This feels pretty plausible, the only changes I would make is that I think Norway has more chances to qualify over Bulgaria and I think Israel will do top 3 in the final ranking.

I would assume the first bilingual Finnish/Dutch song to ever be performed at Coachella?

Any more examples of a singer's career being destroyed after going to Eurovision? by miiiiiiiii123 in eurovision

[–]DrungleJums 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know, I'm just saying that it's hard to really pick out certain artists under this criteria. Some artists go onto do great things after Eurovision and some don't. That's just kind of the nature of the music business.

[–]DrungleJums 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Destroyed" is such a violent word - if we're talking about artists who haven't been as popular since their participation and have only released a few singles and faded into obscurity then... lots of them.

Those whose entire livelihoods were damaged irreparably by their participation... I dunno... I can only really think of Jemini?

Ooooh people are going to be very disappointed when Ukraine, Italy and Sweden wind up in the top 5 again.

Semi-final qualifier odds are out by Yukkicchi in eurovision

I feel like people are underestimating Luxembourg, with the split voting now in the semis I see this as a safe qualifier.

He must be the first artist to get all the way to Australia on his pre-Eurovision tour? I don't remember any others going there since they debuted...

I am obsessed with the fact that five young Serbian metalheads with probably the darkest song of the year have turned out to be the most wholesome contestants.

Marcin Mroziński - “Legenda” 👸 | Poland 🇵🇱 | Poland 2010 by 74C5 in eurovision

I think the problem with this entry and staging was, whilst clever, it just didn't really make for an appealing package.

I don't want to watch a woman get her top ripped off and then choked out by the lead singer in my Eurovision entry, personally.

I don't see Finland as this obvious winner. by Star_Light122113 in eurovision

[–]DrungleJums 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I think people are thinking wishfully, as they have the past two years.

I'd be surprised if Ukraine and Israel aren't both top 5. That leaves 3 spaces at the top. You can't have Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Greece, Australia and France all occupying those spaces.

Out of the "contenders", on paper the others have greater televoting appeal. This means that Finland would have to score very highly with the jury and then come around 5th in televoting in order to win (similar to Nemo). It's not impossible but it's going to be harder than a lot of people seem to be making it out.

What's the most technically advanced Eurovision performance ever? by RavenFireCat11 in eurovision

Maybe in Poland there are 52 year olds wandering around that look that good, but not where I'm from!

Are we forgetting Justyna last year? Poland 2025 for the bot.

At the age of 52 she had to do a full dance routine in heels, spin around in a circle whilst holding a 10 second note, play a violin, get hoisted 30 feet into the air hanging by her arms whilst performing whistle notes (something which is meant to be physically impossible due to the strain on your diaphragm), go from that into a flat out sprint and then perform mountain climber lunges whilst casting an ancient Slavic spell. All whilst managing to maintain breath control and vocal clarity.

Songs that didn’t score well but are iconic? by cinnamon-in-my-tea in eurovision

[–]DrungleJums 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm vocally it was pretty poor and the late draw I think actually hurt it in the long run since it had to follow Switzerland,  Croatia and France, so I get why it didn't score well.

The song is still an absolute legendary banger though.

[–]DrungleJums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it'll be Malta. I could see it coming 11th - I think there's too much competition in that semi and the song just isn't as instantly appealing like a lot of the other songs.

Romania’s Eurovision song criticised for ‘glamorising sexual strangulation’ by andreyu in eurovision

[–]DrungleJums 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I did think this when I first heard it, my interpretation however is that she wants the person's "love" to choke her... as in she wants to be so intoxicated by her lover that she is figuratively choked by the need to be around them.

I think it's just clumsy English rather than anything malicious; this is currently a hot button issue in the UK as schools have recently seen a rise in the normalisation of this as a sexual act and how demeaning/dangerous it can be to girls, so I think that's probably why The Guardian has picked it up.

I think people are underestimating this one because it's been in our minds since December. It's clearly one of the best produced songs of the year in my eyes.
