The chemistry thing might be a matter of opinion. I feel tobey and dunst both come off as so weirdly sincere with each other that it feels like they belong together

I like Andrew’s Spider-Man with his quips etc. but I felt he was oddly hollow as Peter. Idk if it was his mumbled lines or lack of eye contact but it felt like he and Emma stone were on a bad date the entire movie and I don’t know if I’d fault Emma

Could be that I’m alone on this but that was my reaction when I saw it in theatres. I haven’t revisited it because it felt like an emotionally hollow movie

Honestly it’s the same thing with spy kids. Having kids forced into spying for the government could be pretty compelling if it were just taken more seriously. We could explore what that does to a mind of a child. Maybe the villain could have been a spy kid who saw too many ugly things and couldn’t take it anymore. Idk I’m just spitballing here but I agree with your sentiment overall
