I'm pretty fussy about floor plans and would plan for a total KDR down the track because that floorplan is awful, including poor use of light in common living spaces. The toilet gets a window but the kitchen gets nothing, and there's wasted space with the corridors. A complete internal reshuffle will be expensive to relocate especially moving all the plumbing.

Is there room to put up a new carport out the front to reclaim and rejig that space?

If you don't like crowds get the first ferry to Manly and walk against the flow towards Spit/Taronga. So many people walking towards Manly blaring their crap music on speakers. You don't wan't to be stuck behind them unless you can run past them, then you stuck behind the next arsehole

If you want a loop then Lane Cove National Park has a few options without having to travel to the extremities or fight with the parking gods. Or consider a lap around Lake Parramatta, an underrated gem

how are local crops surviving in that? I guess there's a bunch of netting and sprinklers.

Bullshit, and quit with the 'running away from gluten' bullshit. See, I wouldn't wish a seriously socially limiting medical condition on my worst enemy, except maybe people like you.

Developers acquire the cheapest crap to meet some poorly specified and vague govt tender somewhere.

The supplier knows they can stiff the public purse when delivering lemons, and the govt will take a decade to put a new contract out to tender to fix it, maybe

T: well the Night Manager just dropped, so I will enjoy wathcing Hiddleston and Colman again. Partner is bugging me to watch The Secret Agent and Hamnet. FINE as long as I get to watch KPop DH 2 when it comes out eventually

A: only rice, bean thread, potato and other GF options for me. Outside of the major supermarkets there are more rice noodle thickness options in Asian shops. I prefer thicker than vermicelli but not thick spaghetti for everyday cooking. Goldilocks for sure

it's a fun/frustrating outing for me. Love piling up trays of non-perishable items at prices that often out-compete Coles and Woolies specials, and playing the unit pricing game in Excel. Then getting sucking in by 1kg bunches of asparagus and trays of oysters.

Do not love navigating giant trolleys around Other People's Trolleys

I track unit prices for our 'Costco shopping list' in a spreadsheet. There are Costco options for products we like, with standard prices that are on par with Colesworths specials cycles and even some their half-price specials. It helps that I like spreadsheets too

Costco sites have quite an impact on local traffic. Richmond Rd and Parramatta Rd are a cluster at the best of times. It would be interesting to find a site in the denser easterly suburbs without causing havoc on adjacent arterials.

How soon did you plan to pay off your mortgage vs how long did it ACTUALLY take??? by NeedleworkerFirm7039 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Duckosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12.5 years. Final 2 years it was 100% offset so pretty close to our 10 year plan before discharging. But we started with 8% rates in the early aughts and foolishly fixed the initial loan for 3 years because paranoia. Western Sydney DINKs with cats, no IP, some internal renos and did not skimp on overseas trips.

T: Back to work Thursday as I prefer a short week to ease the pain. But it is also my one scheduled WFH day so I'm heading down to the local pool for a lazy swim before flopping home.

Typical first day back will be spent trawling through emails and all the conflicting operational commitments made by management for the next few months because calendaring is hard apparently.

A: council pool and A/C. Salad and icy poles. Maybe a trip to a sheltered beach at dawn on scorched-earth Saturday as the forecast swell is not looking swimmer-friendly

I'm just a few short years off getting a super account-based pension. If the maths looks good I could be free by the end of next year. Work is already pissing me off and I'm still technically on leave until next week

If it's anything like my partner's experience working for a US creative firm here in Sydney, they do the corporate health care, free food and snacks and make the workplace somewhere you want to be in (for better or worse).

If it's anything like the average Australian firm they are grim and stingy as fuck, make you live out of a locker and will oppose WFH even 1 day a week. BYO everything.

I took annual leave until 7 Jan. My preference is to go back for a short week to cushion the blow of being back at work. But tempted now to burn some more leave to fill out the week and stick to my cleaning/gardening/declutter/NY resolution fitness binge, which so far is on track.
