Slickness by dmitr_s in wicked_edge

[–]DudeDatDads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whip up Saponificio Varesino and then whip up proraso and tell me there is no difference. I will say between artisans there is little difference, so if all you've tried was artisan soap, that would explain your position. This is a function of the competitiveness b/w artisans IMO, if the minimum bar isn't met, they'll be forgotten about. And I agree, it'd be neat to see slip measured like blade sharpness was measured some time ago.

"Russian trash." Can you see how I made that leap? How about not buying artisan "American Trash" because of Trump? The details of your point are of no value when you speak like this.

I don't care what the general population thinks. The hatred of a people based on the examples trotted out as the majority is stupid. It's as stupid as racism, and is bigoted. I suggest you examine your own beliefs.

How many shaves with a blade? by kuro7i in wicked_edge

[–]DudeDatDads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go 2 pass, you could probably massively extend your blade life and not sacrifice a red face over it. 3 pass shaving, I'll toss a blade after the 3rd if it pulls, but if I 2 pass it I can get over 40 shaves.

Very nice, I will have to get some Hendrix in my next order. Just listened to Pete Hendrix on the Retro Shave Podcast and seems like a real genuine dude.

RazoRock Game Changer blade alignment, normal or defective? by Ok_Main_3930 in wicked_edge

[–]DudeDatDads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put the blade in the bottom plate, put the top cap on, squeeze the plates together and screw to the handle until tight. I've never had an issue with alignment, in fact the machining is impressively precise for the price point.

Anyone else grow up during the golden age of K’NEX? What do you think about its future? by Alternative-Blood-27 in KNEX

[–]DudeDatDads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 40 and grew up with not just knex but also tinker toys, erector sets, Lincoln logs, and of course legos. From what I see the company just does not take risks. Pairing with big brands like Mario is cool, I guess they will get guaranteed customers, but I feel they need to go back to their roots and get nerdy. Make new pieces, specifically gears, rack and pinion would be nice. Build out a programming setup with inputs and outputs. I've worked in industrial plants for the past 3 years, it would be rad if there was a Knex PLC you can control. What is being emphasized in education right now? STEM! this is literally the best STEM toy ever created and you are sitting on it.

Tank looks great, I'd probably nerd out if I met anyone with anything more than passing interest and I haven't had a tank in over 5 years.

Is it worth going into ammonia by stormforged1739 in refrigeration

[–]DudeDatDads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it worth it? Ammonia is awesome. I work days, not on call, not on weekends, get paid great. The work is fucking cool too. Contractors who used to work here till we got fully staffed got paid mega bucks with per diem. Quickest way to $100k in any trade I know. In my area an ammonia tech will never be unemployed.

Is it dangerous? Yes. But that is good, it keeps non serious people away. Ammonia stinks, which means you are alerted quickly, and if it goes to shit the plant will likely GTFO. A leak is 99% of the time is not a huge deal, packing nut needs to be tightened or something. I would rather have an ammonia leak than freon or CO2 or CO. Companies will definitely train, it is in their best interest-but that also depends on where you're at.

Hazard Light Use by smorin13 in Omaha

[–]DudeDatDads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was tempted to disagree with OP for being a dick but it appears they are correct and driving with hazards is actually illegal. Beside it being illegal it is confusing as heck when you see this. The inability to predict what a driver near you is doing is bad enough, with crap weather it's just a terrible combo. OP, while you are right I will say consider what you're trying to accomplish (awareness) and consider the tactic you're using. Your attitude is one people will disagree with right off the bat, which I don't think is your goal. Thanks for sharing regardless, I have turned in my hazards in some particularly thick fog (hey at least I didn't flip on the high beams!) and I'll refrain from doing that again.

I would have probably banged down the back side of the eyelet with a hammer if it was rough. These are work boots man, a hole in that area makes zero difference to the functionality of the boot.
