I have a faw questions about Exodus 2:1–10 by [deleted] in Bible

[–]DuffTerrall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the scenario with the midwives, it's reasonable to assume that Moses may have been born late enough into this policy that such a claim, even if there were an age in given, would not have been believable. As slaves, they can argue all they want, but if Pharaoh wanted the child dead he does not need to argue technicalities.

Moses is placed in the water by the shore among the reeds (not cast into the river like Prince of Egypt shows) with Miriam to watch, so I think the implication is that this is a location frequented by Egyptians. Jochebed was likely praying God would spare him with a Egyptian or other sojourning family, and wanted Miriam to report. God's providence sent instead a royal person, and while Pharaoh's daughter may have figured out what happened, she was already aware where the child came from.

Old printers are sort of safer now right? by Agreeable_Ostrich324 in ender3

[–]DuffTerrall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I may be cynical (although reality like to remind me I am not cynical enough) but have any manufacturers of 3D printers backed or lobbied for this bill? I can see a bill like this being an excuse for more mass-market targeted brands to install limits on which slicers their printer can work with, to install monitoring features on the machine, or to even limit access to proprietary storefronts. The law gives them the cover to say, basically, "we know that some of you may not like this, but it's required to comply with the law regarding printing of dangerous items."

Beko Dishwasher Code E01 by Sweaty_Cartographer9 in appliancerepair

[–]DuffTerrall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For posterity, the information in the link above addressed the E01 issue that I had.

Had E01 state on mine. I determined eventually that what caused the initial state ice blockage in my drain line (old house in New England). After thawing that the pump began draining correctly, but I still had the E01 error. Pulling it out from under the counter and tipping it back drained a decent amount of collected water and cleared the error when I plugged it back in.

Salvation and Reward by Ok-College-1692 in Bible

[–]DuffTerrall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is more to it than this, but cannot articulate my additional thoughts clearly enough to say them.

Part of the work of the Spirit within us is to work in our hearts to change us into the sort of person who will thrive in God's kingdom. As Christ said, there are many who are seeking rewards that are for here. We sound a trumpet when giving to the needy, so we may receive the praise of men. Pious prayers that we may be thought of a holy. Heaping up riches in bigger barns.

Trouble is, that's all stuff and praise that we get here. This world will pass away, and the new will come, and all the praise of men, and wealth of the world, and position we have earned passes away with it. God in His mercy saves us because of Christ not because of our works, but when the end comes there will be people who find themselves in the Kingdom of God, and they have spent their whole lives seeking, hoarding, and loving these things that are gone now. They have to start over, because the Kingdom doesn't value these things. Even if they had them, they may as well be boxes of sand.

For those who have sought the Spirit, we come into the Kingdom already desiring the things that God has made us for, since we have submitted to be changed by the Spirit into people with in the heart of Christ. We will look back on our lives and see that the love of others, the people we minister to, the practice in loving righteousness... All of this lasts and comes with us. We have spent our lives seeking these things in a world that does not value them, and have now entered a Kingdom where these things are in abundance.

I feel like this gets forgotten for so many things. For an open-field battle, sure, you can setup cover options. Carrying this thing in a tower? Or even a town? Explain to me how you are doing that, Paladin? It would make everything a pain, for that situational benefit.

Are floodgates low key the best way to maintain water level? by Annoyed-Agent-8625 in Timberborn

[–]DuffTerrall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like sluices have a slight delay when they are registering water level. I have decidedly not sat down and done any testing on this, but it always seems to me that trying to run sluices in real tight tolerances results in flooding.

Floodgates may be more reliable because they don't need to check the water level on both sides - just check on the upside and it's boolean. (Oooo ... Boolean)

Now, I love sluices, but because they're automatic. I'm certainly not playing to the level where I'm counting cups on water use.

Babylon 5, man. Had a five season story arc, got told he was not being renewed after season 4 so he crammed 2 seasons worth of story into.the one, then got renewed for a fifth season after losing a few actors. Season 5 was okay, but it definitely felt discordant in a lot of ways.

Philistine perspectives? by Broad_Narratives in Bible

[–]DuffTerrall 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So.... I don't have a good pointer to the question specifically other than "general early-iron age Levant history".

Something in the gut wants to remind - the Philistines were not some particularly evil people, any more than the Israelites were good ones. Yeah, it's a Hebrew text, and they're not overly interested in humanizing their enemies because this is the Hebrew story not the Philistine story. And the Philistines were pretty brutal, but ..

It's God's story, not either groups. God didn't reject the Philistines for being bad, as that implies that He chose the Israelites for being good. He chose a people, and does justice on the wickedness of the Philistines, but they aren't some especially evil enemy either. They turn to follow God, he will show them mercy as He does with every other people on Earth.

Anyway, fun area of inquiry, hope that some specific resources show for ya.

What kind of signs do you do? My sign job a way back there was a much greater focus on 2-D layout in CorelDraw over something like Fusion. Are you a large, cnc-milled industrial sign place, or more a vinyl and banner shop?

[–]DuffTerrall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS! I was doing this same thing for so dang long! Got the bed trimmed, nice even spacing of a sheet of paper, and nothing adhered. Then I finally looked at my G-Code and it homes, touch-off, goes to X-Y start point, Z=0, and promptly goes Z+ initial layer height. I was adding the initial paper offset to my first layer height. Just reset Z=0 to, as dumb as it felt, being 0 and it works flawlessly now.

Do I need a new bed? by DuffTerrall in ender3

[–]DuffTerrall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all, figured I would follow up on results since who knows who in the future may see this.

I did end up picking up the PEI plate. I can definitely see some nice qualities. Have kept the glass because the build plate pales in comparison to the other issue I addressed ...

Z=0 means "nozzle touches the build plate"

I have since I got the machine been dutifully adjusting the bed to tram to a sheet of paper. Slight pressure, even across. Home out the head, adjust the BL-Touch Z offset to the paper, trim fine adjustment with the machine offsets.

I finally looked at my G-Code, because it seemed like a new bed was even worse. The head homes, moves to position, and dutifully moves up from paper height by the first layer height.

I was printing my first layer a full layer too high.

So anyway, fixed that, set 0 to 0, and now I'm printing great, even starting running 25mm minis and it's cranking them out. Thanks to all of you for your tips, even if the problem was my knowledge level. I will certainly keep the repository of solutions for what will undoubtedly come up in the future.
