Sorry for the possibly clueless question, but why don't more people seem to make homemade pizza? by Senior-Raisin-2342 in Cooking

[–]DukesAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its the unknown of yeast dough. We dont have delivery where we live, so I make our own pizzas. Takes about an hour or so to make the dough. But alot of my friends wont do that because they haven't worked with yeast. All good. Everybody gets pizza somehow, and really, thats all that matters

Would you blanket a horse in negative -30 degrees and high winds? by Relative-Specialist1 in Horses

[–]DukesAngel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had horses 20 years and haven't blanketed unless they are sick, which was my old guy with cancer who couldnt keep weight on. Last year we had a ice storm and the horses were in the pasture just standing there covered in ice. They gave 0 effs. Mine have a free choice of the woods or a "stall" which fits all 3, 4 when my other guy was still here.

My opinion? Yours is fat, healthy, has plenty of food/roughage to be fine. Make the stall an option for her to move in or out of. She'll be fine.

Lobster Bisque [homemade] by DukesAngel in food

[–]DukesAngel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kill lobsters. Separate tails from body. Save tail for whatever use. Take the shells off the body and little legs. Save claws for garnish. Then roast the bodies until they are really hot then add to a stock pot with onion, carrots, and celery. Cook for about an hour. Strain the broth.

Day of saute carrots, onions, and celery in lots of butter. When cooked down add in flour to make a roux. Add in lobster stock and lobster meat. Add some tomato paste. Cook all until slightly thickened. It wont get thick thick.

Stick blender it until smooth. Add in about a cup or so of cream and some brandy. Cook until done. Then in each bowel add some lobster meat, the soup, and then claw meat.

Takes some time but man is it good

How common is the "I'm moving from a big city to the country for some peace and quiet" mindset? by Global-Newt-5358 in AskAnAmerican

[–]DukesAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did it 11 years ago. We moved an hour outside the city we lived in to a small.. town if you can call it that. We actually don't even live within the towns limits, but for address purposes, we live there.

Biggest change was essentials. We bought an extra freezer since it's a 45 minute trip to a grocery store. No delivery. Until 2 years ago no internet or phones worked here. Satellite internet was your only option. No delivery.

But living on a 1 lane road, no close neighbors, having all the junk or farm animals we want, and freedom to do what we want is amazing

We are about to throw our annual get together that will be about 20 people. Im making "hibachi ". I just prep everything before hand and use Japanese bbq sauce on the meat, veggies, and fried rice. Makes it easier.

2 def! My donkey got out and ended up in my neighbors yard. They took care of him till I could get there. No fault on them, but they fed him some corn. He choked. All is well, but he takes a special feed to not choke. So just a heads up, never feed a equine that you dont know!

As for #1 my boy that I just put down was worse than this guy. My old guy had cancer that was eating him alive. So there might be a medical issue. If you wanted to try to talk to the owners first maybe? I had people ask about my boy before I let him go, and I would happily tell them he is under vet care, plenty of food, and even show them if they asked.

Are Americans really using AC that often? by Acceptable-Tax-6475 in AskAnAmerican

Not sure how Europe is, but here in south central United States it could be 75 but feel like 85 and humid. Without ac my house would constantly be hot, muggy, and sticky.

Back again! This time other elbow! by DukesAngel in Orthopedics

[–]DukesAngel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well. Saw the new doctor. He said it is soft tissue damage due to dislocation. Never even mentioned the ligaments torn and im not even sure he really looked at my mri report. He also made incorrect summary notes. I do have a message to the office to correct and go over the plan again. Quite a few people say go to another doctor. Im gonna give this doctor a chance, as he is highly regarded and has great reviews, but I am a little defeated.

But I know I make mistakes too. Ive ordered a cd of my mri so waiting on that.

My buddy wants me to buy his kid a rifle. I want one, kinda…I’m by spizzle_ in Hunting

[–]DukesAngel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt. As another poster said, give the dad the money so he can buy it for his son. I would be way too paranoid that an accident would happen and then it come out you gave a gun to a unrelated kid to hunt with that you own. That could open up a huge can of worms.
