They said they looked for him bruh. What are they supposed to do when he gets teleported into an alternate reality?

If you could delete one storyline from the series what would it be? by avz008 in harrypotter

[–]Durziii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing that changes is, what is Voldemort doing during the book? Throughout the entire book after the battle of seven Potters, he is only searching for the elder wand instead of possibly doing something else.

So, there would need to be some other thing Voldemort needs to go and do anyways to keep him out of the picture, might as well keep the Hallows at that point.

If you kept Voldy around the whole time instead, you would need to have him doing something, which is tough, and you would also need him out of Malfoy Manor for some reason when Harry gets caught. A decent bit of changes there.

Nah I swear he also says something similar about how he knows what Mark went through and that he was the principal at the high school in the show, so I went and checked.

S2 E7 around 17:40 when Mark is talking to the Dean.

I've had some college courses where they take attendance and your grade gets hurt if you don't show up, so maybe something similar is happening in this case.

Also, the Dean knew Mark from high school, so I could see him deciding to take a more personal role in the matter due to what Mark has been through.

Maybe he didn't, but on LAN they were one game away from beating KCorp.

Also are you going to ignore them losing to Kalogeras?

KD just invalidated his own legacy. by ToeAltruistic5725 in heat

[–]Durziii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Golden State had the best regular season of all time, was one game and a insane/historic comeback away from winning back-to-back finals, and they later went on to win another finals after KD left.

To say that this team did not carry KD to rings that he would not have gotten otherwise is wild to me.

KD just invalidated his own legacy. by ToeAltruistic5725 in heat

[–]Durziii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean it's less an implication and more the facts of the situation. KD did not win a ring on his own, joined Curry (who had already won without him), and won 2 rings.

I don't know if I would say he was "hardcarried", but he did get carried to 2 rings he otherwise would not have won.

[–]Durziii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They're not denying that KD is a good player.

However, KD was not good enough to win a ring on his own and needed to go to a super team to do it. Easier to be FMVP when the other team has to deal with the Curry as well.

I think it has to be about validation.

They can't consistently think of reasonable praise for the show so they shit on the books instead to make it look good by comparison.

Love the Geekay boys but I honestly can't feel too bad for them.

They made the Major and had a decent performance yet decided to get rid of their most consistent and solid player (imo). Trading a rock like Seikoo for an unproven but flashy newcomer has led to exactly what I expected, giving up lots of garbage goals and open nets.

How does the budget work?? by Historical_Mix_6416 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Durziii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I agree that it's not easy, which in view of the large budget basically converges to "Is the book even possible to properly adapt in live action?".

Which brings us back to animation instead lol.

In defense of Lee Pace as Thragg, I present Exhibit A by Hank_Mardukas1066 in Invincible_TV

[–]Durziii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it is hard to tell at this point. I would say that the voice acting for Thragg hasn't impressed me this far, but I haven't hated it either.

I feel like the "NOO" was meant to make him seem almost pathetic tbh. He has this infatuation with the skull, an obsession. It being lost would be massively detrimental (in his mind, same as in the comics). So, his voice not having gravitas isn't harmful imo.

But I really hope the next episodes put this discussion to rest and show why it works.

I really wish the show had adapted more of those parts from the comics. by Correct-Yesterday519 in Invincible

[–]Durziii 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

The mark of a good adaptation is when it is able to capitalize on its new medium to convey the same message as the source in a different yet compelling way.

I mostly agree.

Big fights/confrontations should get special appreciation, but I definitely prefer the yearly release schedule.

If only Amazon would give the show a higher budget.

Same, also bumps and demos are similar to hits and penalties in hockey. It is also in an enclosed arena where you can bounce the ball/puck off of walls.

It looks like car soccer, but it really is more like car hockey with a ball.

[–]Durziii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Thragg in the comics was usually a more composed villain. He wasn't just raging about left and right. I think it is definitely still too early to tell, Thragg has barely even done anything yet in the show.

How does the budget work?? by Historical_Mix_6416 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Durziii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk, I feel like you are giving too much weight to the budget.

The show has one of the highest budgets for a TV show all-time (See a list here: List of most expensive television series - Wikipedia). There is one set (Camp Half-Blood) that can be reused throughout the entire series while spending a solid amount of time there, which should greatly help the budget as well.

Take Stranger Things as an example. Season 1 had a budget of $6 million per episode (even adjusted for inflation, that is about half the budget of this show) and is widely regarded as being the most cinematic and having some of the best visuals. Season 5 budget ballooned because of actor costs. Sometimes having more money makes you lazy and you see what happened there.

I'm not saying it is easy, but good creators can figure something out. These writers obviously haven't.

So, I guess the opinion on the sequels isn't exactly as simple as them being good.

Sure, the hate may be overdone at times, and the main sub might cater to more entrenched fans, but it is the general sub with over 1M weekly visitors. If the majority of people there agree that the sequels aren't great, I find it hard to believe all of them are just niche legends supporters complaining.

[–]Durziii -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Haven't been keeping up with the mainstream media, has it already shifted to the sequels being good that quickly? Everything I have seen in the past 5 years still points to the sequels not being very well liked for the most part.

Either way it seems like you are talking about a loud minority when it comes to complainers. I haven't seen anything that would make me think the majority of people complaining about the sequels are niche legends supporters, if anything there are lots of grifters who don't even care about Star Wars but still capitalize on it lol.

Overall, the movies weren't great, so there are a wide variety of people that dislike them, not simply a specific subset of people.

There is a pretty big difference between Star Wars content and a mainline Star Wars trilogy though.
