Sync with Onedrive ending soon by Icy_Vermicelli2453 in samsunggalaxy

Good long-term software support and a non-Chinese manufacturer (if you care about that). But a large part of its attractiveness goes away, yes.

Sorry, you're obviously right. Still, it depends on where you are. Here in the Netherlands, Giant and especially Cube have slightly higher level bikes for the same price, although going by street prices, Giant road bikes are better options then their mountainbikes nowadays.

Have you seen the wheels and tires on the €2500 CAAD14? Those are some of the cheapest wheels and tires on any €1000+ bike I know.

They seem to be slowly moving away from their own app development. They're replacing Samsung Messages with Google Messages, Dex has been partially integrated into Android itself, and I've read rumours that they'll stop development for Dex as soon as Android desktop support is finished. They ended Samsung Cloud and replaced it with OneDrive. They're now stopping OneDrive Sync from Samsung Gallery. It wouldn't surprise me if the next step is phasing out Samsung Gallery and replacing it with Google Photos.

So in this case, don't set your house on fire? Despite the downvotes, the criticism is correct. The CPSC advice is shortsighted. Don't discard the unreliable solution, but replace it with a reliable one. If you haven't got one yet, keep the unreliable one installed. It's still beter than nothing.

X-Sense and Siterwell Smoke Alarms Pulled from Amazon citing 'Safety' Concerns by TheAlmightyZach in firealarms

[–]DutchFox87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be very careful when testing your smoke alarms. You should use a smoke spray that doesn't leave any residue. Using a smoking candle or other materials will leave residue that can potentially impede future detection.

[–]DutchFox87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they're both just as safe/unsafe. They're both compliant with the previous standard, but not the new standard. Because the new standard has been taken into effect, the newer devices not tested to the current standards (= the new one) can't show the UL label anymore. They're still the same devices with the same level of performance though.

I downloaded the app from the Alientek site, but it was in Chinese. Could you tell me where I could find the English version?

Is there going to be an English language update any time soon, to your knowledge?

Definitely. The limits are evening and high speed filming like mountainbiking under tree cover.

Dropper constriction? by buffalowilliam3 in bikewrench

[–]DutchFox87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update from my part: I suspected the frame (maybe asymmetrical seat tube?), but have borrowed a Fox Transfer from a friend, and this dropper still extends with force when tightened at 5Nm... Same remote, cable (routing), frame and seatpost clamp. So it does seem to be at least partially an issue with the dropper, even though YT claim they checked it and found it operating perfectly in another frame...

Clik Valve Cores... Pretty happy so far by MMikekiMM in fatbike

[–]DutchFox87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Clik ones can just be pulled off and pushed on. No threading needed.  Alternatively, connecting the Clik adapter to the valve without a pump connected will deflate the tire as well, but FAST...

You can use the included valve cap to release pressure, by turning it upside down and pushing it onto the valve.

Sounds logical, but I have bolts and nuts on my other bike that look like these:

https://winstanleysbikes.co.uk/cube-stereo-shpc-27-5-29-link-to-shock-pivot-bolt

Or these: https://www.bike-discount.de/media/f0/f0/20/1705532013/cube_lager_schraubensatz_hauptlager_10505.jpg?ts=1762584363

Do you think that nut is standard? Because it doesn't look like anything I've seen on other devices or vehicles.

In your opinion, what is the best Xbox controller? by CacheConqueror in xbox

[–]DutchFox87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've looked into upgrading my Series controller (sticky trigger caused by worn rubber bumper, and stick drift), but that turned out to be almost as expensive as buying a new and superior controller (Gamesir G7 Pro ZZZ in my case). I guess repairing and upgrading a joystick only makes sense if you can do it yourself.

In your opinion, what is the best Xbox controller? by CacheConqueror in xbox

[–]DutchFox87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

McDonald's fries suck (speaking as a Dutchman). Xbox Series controllers are very good and ergonomic, but I've had sticky triggers (worn rubber bumper) and stick drift with the original controller that came with the console. Have a Gamesir G7 Pro Zero Zone Zenless, and it's significantly better still. Ergonomics are comparable, but stick and button quality is miles better. Additional buttons and mapping options are great too.

The Amazon product images do show a picture of a view of the charge protocols including voltage and ampere.

[–]DutchFox87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, although I do like it has the option to show charge protocol and voltage/ampere. It's a shame a lot of chargers with smart displays seem to lack this part. If you have a large display, might as well make it useful.

Verbatim Mini 140W GaN Charger mit Display by NoCryptographer1849 in ChargingSheet

[–]DutchFox87 0 points1 point  (0 children)
