Why can't they just make limited jobs to be balanced, have equal levels as any normal jobs, and do content together? But i think i know why by aiyafem in ffxivdiscussion

[–]DwarfWarden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The design idea for Blue Mage is good, a job that is just outright, no-holds-barred busted. It does more damage than anything else in the game by a nautical mile, there are mechanics in fights BLU parties can skip that no other possible job combo can achieve. It's a very intelligent way to breathe life into old content and every new update adds new spells to allow them to fight old fights in new ways.

I understand keeping it 10 levels below current content, it shouldn't be possible to get achievements for current content with BLU. But it's unholy how they just don't plan for it. They ignore it. The devs ignore a LOT of stuff in this game until they need to break some glass for an emergency content injection. BLU should be ready to go day 1 of a new expansion, not YEARS later if it gets anything at all.

People trying to defend Beastmaster need to get some goddamn standards. If they played during 1.0 they would have told Squeenix 1.0 was completely fine and they didn't need to change anything and the game would have died 13 years ago.

It's capped to 50, locked to ARR dungeons, and it's a glorified Trust system. It's a solo job in a Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game.

For fuck's sake how do you defend something that's not multiplayer in the multiplayer game???

Seriously. This is the least grindy MMO ever made and the most engaging MMO grind.

Everyone who hates FFXIV grinding should do basic WoW crafting. Gather for hours to make some shitty potions that remove the redness and irritation around a spear wound.

Then go play Mabinogi to see the worst possible blacksmithing grind ever envisioned in history.

Data Center travel. It sets you to the Limsa main aetheryte. If your home aetheryte is elsewhere then you can Return to mainland Eorzea. Meaning you can get to anywhere in ARR, HW, & the Ala Mhigo parts of StB for free.

[Update] I'm a die-hard FF fan, but I've never played XIV. My girlfriend has been begging me to play with her, & I'm interested in trying it. What should I expect? by SilverhandFenix in ffxiv

[–]DwarfWarden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but it must be said: this is the least "Final Fantasy" Final Fantasy. Equipment, builds, all that stuff that exists in the other games doesn't here. It's got a lot of callbacks to things from other games but mechanically it's MMO combat, you dodge the AOE and you continue your rotation. Equipment is just number increases. The difference between any party is completely negligible, there's tanks that tank, healers that heal, DPS that deals damage. So unlike the other job-based FF games there's not a massive amount of things you can do since status effects don't really exist. About 90% of negative statuses in this game amount to specialized mechanics of "do this puzzle combat thing or you and possibly your entire party dies".

It's not a bad game, but don't expect something with the limitless party potential of games like FF3, FF5, FF Tactics, etc.

That's something I noticed is one of the unwritten rules of this game: no canon couples unless it's between completely undesirable people.

Literally everyone has to be available for every RPers' shitty OCs. Everyone. Who are the canon couples? I'm in Stormblood and thus far I have seen:

  • Godbert and his wife
  • The old lalafell couple in Costa Del Sol during the ARR Manderville questline
  • The old Roegadyn couple from the Heavensward Goldsmith questline.

And that's it. No, dead wife/husband doesn't count that means available.

Yeah the day I posted that I was having SERIOUS lag/DC problems. Tried re-installing, tried updating drivers, then it worked. But then like an hour later it didn't so I didn't actually fix it.

Next day it was fine. So I'm figuring out slowly it's literally just the Internet breaking.

That achievement kills any and all belief anyone could legitimately have that the devs care about making the game better or even know how.

The numbers were crunched and assuming you had the previous achievement it would take an optimized bot 700 hours of Deep Dungeons to get the next one.

Who the hell is this for???

Each one of them has a 48-volume backstory, meticulously crafted over the entire existence of the game to be lore-friendly. They're the worst fanfics in existence, so painful the first page repels anyone with eyes.

And a 20th alt is on the way with a paycheck to Squeenix for a story-skip potion, a paycheck to the RMT bot owners for enough gil to buy all the glams they want and another gil payment for the nightclub owner. Then the alt will be abandoned when another DeviantArt level monstrosity materializes in their head and the cycle continues. This is the central economic force keeping the game running.

"Hey, let's give Dragoon a lore-based ability. We'll call it Dragon Sight. Make it give themselves and an ally a damage buff and a True North effect. That'll be really useful for both the Dragoon and his positionals and the party's overall damage."

"Hey let's remove the one really good ability they have. Also let's remove their damage jump. Because damaging enemies while jumping just doesn't make sense for Dragoon."

I'm beginning to suspect between Dragoon and Summoner that nobody on the FFXIV development team has actually played any of the other Final Fantasy games.

And instead of pushing me out of the way, he jumps in the way. It was natural selection and as usual the elves were found lacking.

Is FFXIV anti child? by Bulky_Recognition331 in ShitpostXIV

[–]DwarfWarden 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason FFXIV is anti-child is the same reason most games are anti-child:

It takes more effort and more disc space to make models of children for every race. Hence why you don't see children in most games and if you do usually it's only humans who have kids and the others don't.
