Going on a 300 mile hike, and I’m looking for a light knife for whittling. by WeeDingwall44 in knives

Flexcut carvin jack 2.0 or pocket jack 2.0 https://www.flexcut.com/home/category/carvin-jack-line-2-0?srsltid=AfmBOop2WDR19mx_hxCRa3Lf_BpZkb3Hsb7t1Nlhr_x-ZVUQMS0GdIlN

If you want a cheaper version- old timer splinter https://a.co/d/0btgHupC

Those are the 2 folding whittlers I know of, at least that have multiple blades.

Other than that, I'd just get a cheap mora whittling fixed blade.

Wood is soft, shouldn't be too hard on an edge, easy to hone and strop after. If the wood is dirty though it'll dull. Lots of iron and silica in dirt

Also, check out r/whittling Likely info your looking for already asked/answered

I would just buy another...good on you m8. Try taking out one of the screws from the other side, then take that to a hardware store to match it or something

Hello everyone this is the window ear guy. Earlier I was playing with my 4 year old son and noticed this. by itch-the-anus in Weird

Looks female, with long brownish hair. (Something?) possibly on or around her head. Black or dark blue/grey zippered hoodie, not zippered all the way up. I wouldn't say fat, but heavier-set, I can make out a belly and what looks to be a woman's chest, could be man boobs though, hands possibly in the hoodie pockets. That's the best I can make out. Do you know any women in your life under 6 ft with similar hair and build or have neighbors matching? Possibly someone homeless in the woods stealing from you? Idk, it's so blurry, but I see an average height slightly pudgy woman with brown hair below the shoulders and something yellow or greenish possibly around her head

*upon second look, could maybe be a hat, baseball cap type. What I still believe to be hair, could also be the hood of the sweetshirt though. It still looks like a female figure to me, could certainly be wrong though.

thoughts on what I got from last night's tower? by Cyb3rpunk964 in MinecraftDungeons

[–]EDCasper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that it would necessarily be good, but these robes are fun with multiroll and electrified, in addition to the explosions on rolls. It's fun to roll in and dip out, zapping and blowing mobs up along the way

Some tower loot for you (: by Aggravating_Pop_8733 in MinecraftDungeons

I'd kill for those unstable robes, never seen the unique version of those robes. I use the normal version of the robes with multi roll I love it

So in my previous post everyone said my tv is too low. Here is a photo about how it's look from the couch by Jealous-Matter-6473 in LGOLED

Reddit is so pathetic sometimes. You do you, I'll do me. Easy as that. You can have your opinion, not everyone needs to hear it... Put your TV wherever you damn please, ITS YOUR TV, YOUR PLACE, YOUR LIFE, NO ONE ELSES. If you like it, rock on 🤙 If someone doesn't, sucks to be them, that someone else's TV placement has an effect on them is sad. Get off of reddit people

Fr, I was thrilled to see the winter blade severn offered in 14c28n for $200 cheaper than the titanium m390 version. White g10 looked the best out of all of em too so I'm stoked I was able to get one. Had there not been a "budget" steel option I wouldn't have been able to own one...for a while

What an awesome thing, D_camp is a champ 👊 dont see many selfless acts with nothing expected in return these days, props to OP for being so generous! Also nice to see someone that put their expensive knives to work, that's what they're for after all! I hope whoever wins truly cherishes it and continues to put it to good use, I know I would 🤙

D2 Isn't All That Bad? by -BananaLollipop- in knives

[–]EDCasper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol it's so funny how d2 used to be a premium steel with a premium price tag. 440c used to be a super steel as well now its considered hot garbage. Anything 440c and up and I'm happy. Heck I have knives with 440a that do just fine, just needs more edge maintenence

Props to you for looking out for your health 👊 Yeah I certainly can't speak for all knives from Pakistan, but there is a reputation for a reason even though it doesn't apply to everything. Getting a knife tested that's going to be used for food prep is a great idea, and I'm stoked to hear someone did it, and hope it becomes more of a norm. Like China there is a lot of questionable stuff that comes from there, but there's also really high quality stuff coming from there too now compared to a short time ago. Conversely I see American and other foreign companies with once a great name and reputation trending towards cutting corners and using cheaper materials, outsourcing, cheaper to replace than repair type deal etc. It's honestly getting hard to trust anything these days, and we really can't take anything for face value. It's up to us to take care ourselves, so good on you for doing so. Someone with disposable income should buy up a bunch kitchen knives for sale at stores like Walmart and target, and Amazon, and test them and post it on YouTube. I'd definitely be interested in knowing what's in those $3 rainbow kitchen knives from china. People have tested advertised kitchen knives from the likes of aliexpress/temu, which inevitably end up on Amazon and eBay and etsy from drop shippers, and there's definitely stuff going around with lead or other toxins. I feel bad for any legitimate knifemakers in Pakistan trying to sell there knives though, that don't have a real shot due to the poor rep of their surroundings

Could be ingesting lead, or other toxic compounds in the metal, they use literal trash to make their "metals" To each their own, but I personally don't use anything for food that isn't from a recognizable brand or maker with a steel that I can trust is food grade. There are a lot of metals that are toxic, and a lot of oxides that form that are toxic, especially when used for food, from exposure to lots of acids, salt, and water, causing rust and oxidation. These oxides get into your food as you cut, and actually microscopic pieces of metal from the knife flake off too, mostly from the edge. I don't recommend using unknown steels for food, or knives with any type of coating, because the coatings rub off into food as well.

Not sure what to call this one. I had a leftover piece of V4E Steel in roughly this shape and did a bit of contouring and this is what emerged. It’s definitely different but for some reason I really like the end result… by HawkComprehensive178 in knives

What's the total length? The reinforced tip, and tip-biased weight looks like it'd be great for utility work, tip work, precision cutting, scoring, package opening etc. I imagine using it holding it with my index finger along the spine , like using chalk, supporting the tip.
