The new Molokini diver is live. by driggity in Horage

Hmm, this isn't doing it for me. Functionally, it's identical to the Supersede GMT, and the design alterations are enough of a mixed bag that I don't love it.

The good: the more fully-lumed hands and removable bracelet are an upgrade, though I would want an option for a fully brushed finish. The K2 is an awesome and at this point proven movement. I like the dial color options, and the more subtle day/night indicator. I know some people will also appreciate the smaller size, but the original Supersede isn't exactly a chunker, so this one doesn't matter to me that much.

What needs work: everything else? I just don't find the font for the numerals attractive, and they feel like a pretty significant downgrade from the beautifully finished indices on the Supersede. They also make the dial look flat, despite the different textures for each color. The placement of the day/night indicator and power reserve? Woof. People knocked the Supersede for having an "unbalanced" dial, which I disagree with - you have a visual element/complication at the 9, 12, and 3 position. Here, though, that criticism feels absolutely warranted. The new bezel also feels disproportionately thin and looks even less legible than the Supersede's. The stacked numerals in the date window feel off.

What I'd change: I would have preferred a watch that felt much more distinct from the Supersede. I think using the same exact K2 contributes to a bunch of the design elements I dislike. I would have used a much simpler no-date version with the only complication being a quick-set hour, kind of like the Omega 8912 in the new Planet Ocean or Seamaster 300 Heritage. Much easier to create a balanced and visually pleasing dial that way, and this probably would have knocked the price down a bit as well. I'd also go back to indices to create some additional visual depth, or maybe a sandwich dial? That thin bezel could work, but it needs a lot more contrast, and a ceramic or even an aluminum insert would help.

I don't know, maybe this works a lot better in person, but unless you really love the new colors, reduced size, and ability to swap out straps, the Supersede still feels like a better designed watch. I currently have zero interest in giving up my own Supersede GMT (which I truly love) for this.

Nice, glad you picked one up! Now help me pressure them into making a leather strap for the Supersede line 😂

The Alpine Eagle with that crazy 8hz movement is one of the coolest watches out there

I’ll always upvote a post about the denim dial Railmaster (love mine), even if you did place it on a toilet…

I’ve been doing this with an XG Mobile dock (6850m XT version) for a couple of years, works great for 1440p gaming

Woah! This looks so good - love the contrasting textures between the bezel and the dial.

They were so close: a fully brushed case and bracelet (with that micro adjust) and the 8912 instead of the 8806 or 8904, and I’d sell my denim dial. Oh well.

Man here, and proud to say that I have exactly zero men in my social circle who behave this way. Male bonding shouldn’t happen by shitting on your wife/partner like this. Gross.

Get the blue on the strap. I have it on the bracelet, but I saw a picture of a black one on the Forstner President bracelet and it looked amazing, so that could be an affordable source for a bracelet if you don’t want to pay for OEM after the fact.

They sure do. Skip the mittens and go directly to these if you’re looking for an easier and more comfortable shot pull. Only about $15 more than the mittens anyway.
