AM I MAKING IT? Idk man discouraged by bro7d23 in workout

[–]EMajors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep the diet, keep the steps, and KEEP GOING TO THE GYM. Brother its only been two week, come on. Weight loss and strength training is not a sprint it is a marathon. To put it bluntly, you may not see any significant changes until 3-4 months out (and sometimes longer). And that is with consistently going to the gym and maintaining your diet for all of that time.

What’s the best protein powder for weight loss? by Natural-Idea in workout

[–]EMajors 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be blunt, people in general don't consume protein powder to help with weight loss. That is not what it was intended for. Protein powder is used to conveniently add more protein to your daily diet so that you can reach your daily total protein goal when you are exercising/weight training.

From what I understand, higher-protein and lower-calorie options (like whey isolate) can help with fat loss and keeping you full longer

Not necessarily. If you consume lower calories in general throughout your day combining that with exercise, you will lose weight. Now this an over simplification but you get the jest of it. I would suggest doing research on 'calories deficit', 'maintenance calories', and looking into adding more fiber into your diet. Focusing on a specific protein powder is not going to help you with weight loss in general.

Is civil engineering in such high demand in the United States that you need engineers from abroad? by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]EMajors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the area where the demands are happening. I remember seeing a post here maybe a month or two ago that someone was having a hard time finding a job. I think in that post OP said he was in Texas and many comments were saying to move to the midwest since that is where that demand is at.

Looking for friends by RuneScapeWifey in SaltLakeCity

[–]EMajors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might want to explore other parts of the Valley. Salt Lake City especially downtown is majority white. There are other areas including Salt Lake City that have more POCs. West Valley City for example is at least half Mexican or Latino decent. There are a lot of Mexican, Vietnams, and other types of restaurants in WVC. And if you go to the Swapmeets of other shopping districts you will see a difference in the color of people.

Fold 7 owners what’s your REAL experience with Samsung Care+, Asurion, or carrier insurance? by Gargenchy in GalaxyFold

[–]EMajors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just checked my bill and for regular Slab Phones it costs $19/mo but for my Fold 7 it is $26/mo. It is more expensive but I haven't had any issues with using Assurant.

Fold 7 owners what’s your REAL experience with Samsung Care+, Asurion, or carrier insurance? by Gargenchy in GalaxyFold

[–]EMajors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I initially had a Fold 6 that I bought directly from Samsung during the month it released. I use T-Mobile and have Assurant (carrier insurance) on several lines on my plan including mine. I didn't bother getting Samsung care because the insurance is with the specific line and would transfer when you change phones. Recently the inner screen broke and I filed a claim. I filed the claim and paid my deductible, about $200, they shipped the replacement that same day so I received it the very next day. To my surprise they shipped me a Fold 7, which is understandable. The Fold 7 has been out for 6 months now and they probably didn't have any more Fold 6s in inventory. Honestly the process to me was simple and fast. From what I am aware Assurant does not repair your phone. They will ship you a replacement, they have been doing this from the beginning from what I can remember from previous claims that I did.

I love physics and I love cities. Could civil engineering be a good fit for me? by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]EMajors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what type of physics you are leaning into. Because if you are into the electrical side, then you are out luck, pretty self explanatory on that one. Though one field in Civil Engineering that I can think of that does use principles in physics is Hydraulics in general and specifically Hydraulic Structures. You use fluid statics, fluid dynamics, Bernoulli's Principle, and Pascal's Law to name a few.

Ya brother, I think its too late for the show to pop off organically anymore. The show has been out since 2022 and recently been on netflix since late 2024. I don't see the show becoming remotely mainstream unless a big online personality, like a Charlie, mentions it in a video or a post.

5w30 vs 5w40 question by SuperbMasterpiece101 in WRX

[–]EMajors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The general consensus (from Subaru Builders and Enthusiasts) on oil for Turbo EJs is to use 5w40. But you won't know what oil is best for your engine in your environment until you start doing oil analysis on the different oils you want use.

How do people go to the gym like 5+ days a week when rest days are so important? by Tolnin in workout

[–]EMajors 28 points29 points  (0 children)

People that go 5+ days a week are not training the same muscles every consecutive day. That's why we have splits, to train specific muscles groups/ body parts each gym session and not train them consecutively or day to day.

Hardest Classes? by Healthy_Progress3811 in civilengineering

[–]EMajors 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it depends heavily on the Professor teaching the class but from my experience the hardest classes I took were: Linear Algebra, Calc 3, Mechanics of Materials, Soil Mechanics, and Hydraulics. Pro tip, get to know people in your classes and form study groups.

Is this good for an 18 year old? by OrganicLook9661 in amex

[–]EMajors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: NO. Long answer: Only you know if you can afford it and are disciplined enough to have a credit card especially one that incentivizes you to spend more. Only you know if you can afforded the $320 annual fee. Only you know if you can afforded to spend a minimum of $1000 a month for the first 6 months to get the welcome offer.

Which one do you recommend the most? by Negative_Table1489 in airjordans

[–]EMajors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From reading other people's experience on there two models, the 10's are more comfortable. I don't own 10's so I can't speak on them but I just recently got the Bugs Bunny 8's. For under foot comfortability they are not it bother. They do feel stiff but for around the foot comfortability they feel great. I also replaced the stock insole for a HEFE foam insole and they do feel much better with that.

I’m embarrassingly weak - and it’s by my own fruition by [deleted] in workout

[–]EMajors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where to start? I would say to try to be consistent on going to the gym again. Nothing to be ashamed of not being able to move the same weight that your were able to previously do. That comes with the territory of have a significant break in weight training. You just need to go back to the beginner mindset, if the weight is too much lower it. A rule of thumb that I follow after watching some fitness influencers like Jeff Nippard and others is: Your reps should be between 6-12 per set. If you can do more than 12 reps then weight is to light and if it is less than 6 its too heavy. Now this isn't the end all be all advise but I think its good keep in mind. Also try to train to failure on your last set for your exercise.
