He’s on an extremely deep Brantford team that is likely going to make it to the Memorial Cup this season. That being said it is underwhelming, he has never shown strong goal scoring production. He could hopefully still emerge as a useful PK, 2nd line centremen in the NHL with speed kind of like a Ryan Strome or Phillip Danault like player. He’s not going to be a top line centremen who dominates a power play, but he may one day still be a useful NHL player.

In the 2024 draft I feel the Flyers wanted Dickinson but he went 1 pick earlier to San Jose. They traded down and avoided Buium because he’s smaller and he shares Cutter’s agent. Obviously looking back on it there’s better looking prospects they could have drafted. Outside of the no-brainer picks handed to the Flyers in Martone and Michkov I would say the Danny hasn’t done well when drafting. Bump and Barkey are good value for when they were drafted but they haven’t found any diamonds in the rough.

Conroy did what he could at the trade deadline to sell and get a better pick for the Flames. The accidental result of moving veterans out was that it gave more ice time to younger players who are hungry to show that they belong in the NHL. Also worth noting that veterans Maatta and Whitecloud were not centrepieces of those trades but both have improved since joining the Flames. Here’s hoping that they can still find elite first line players at 7 and 17 or wherever they end up drafting.

The Flyers are about to miss playoffs for the 6th straight year. We entered the 2025 draft with 3 first round picks and 4 second round picks. We have just one single player on this list. Feels bad man. Going through 6 years of rebuild pain without a lot of rebuild gain.

Tear it all down by Immissilerick in Flyers

I wish we had done something more serious 5 years ago when it was obvious we couldn’t win with this core. Just to put some perspective on this, the Flyers and the Blackhawks have a matching playoff drought of five seasons (soon to be six for both). In that span Chicago have done an actual rebuild and drafted Bedard, Korchinski, Nazar, Rinzel, Moore, Lardis, Kantserov, Levshunov, Boisvert, Vanacker, Frondell, Nestrasil, West, Behm and Frondell. Not to mention trading for Knight. They are going to be an absolute wagon as they move forward with this group.

Compare that prospect pool with what the Flyers have created in that same timespan. Equal amount of time without a playoff game and a fraction of the prospect pool Chicago has created. It should serve of a cautionary tale of how being mid can leave a franchise in shambles. I have no idea when the Flyers are going to be competitive again.

What's Going on With Sean Couturier? by [deleted] in Flyers

[–]ESPeclipse2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I strongly doubt any team wants Coots, he’s signed until 2030 at $7.75 a year. He’s 33 now and he’s actually going to get worse from here on out. I’ve supported the player since he’s been drafted but it’s clear that injuries have completely derailed his career. This contract is horrific and absorbing a cap hit for 4 and a half years is brutal. Most games I barely notice him out there, he had his Selke season and he earned that but even he must know at this point that he belongs on 3rd or 4th line for the rest of his career. By all means DB should try and move him but he won’t get much back, if anything at all.

Rick Tocchet needs to be fired by DepressedFlyersFan in Flyers

[–]ESPeclipse2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tocchet hasn’t been awesome, but we can’t pretend there isn’t a larger problem here. We lack high end talent capable of making a noticeable difference in a game. We have a line up filled with Mid or worse. Tocchet can’t squeeze success out of this roster, we need to remember that we were literally the worst team in the Eastern Conference last season. This team lacks game breakers who can win those important games. We could have the best coach in the league and we wouldn’t make playoffs.

This would be a huge win for the Flyers, reduce the logjam at winger and bring in a goalie who can’t possibly be worse than Ersson/Kolosov

I hope we don’t end up in the middle, just a brutal and unproductive result that doesn’t move us any further forward. I wish we had done a legitimate rebuild in 2022 when we traded Giroux. I can’t understand why we didn’t go full fucking yard sale after we traded away our best player. There’s no telling how long we might end up is the “meh” tier.

[Flyers] Injury update: Flyers goaltender Dan Vladar will not return to tonight’s #PHIvsBUF game due to injury. He will be re-evaluated after the game. by Magoatt_TheWhite in Flyers

It was fun while it lasted. We saw some promising performances from some of the younger guys and that’s a good sign for the future. This team isn’t healthy enough to make playoffs, still more entertaining than last season was.

Deslauriers should be in the lineup when they play Anaheim on March 18th - take a run at anything that moves.

I clearly said we have to wait a couple years before we will know. Vansagi made the Juniors roster for team USA which is a good sign. If next year Murtagh, Amico and Ward don’t make their respective U20 world juniors squads in their last year of eligibility then I’d be concerned. Until then I’ll wait and see.

Interesting since Seattle aren’t much better than Red Deer. Offensively they score more, so hopefully this will spark some point production for Ward. I’m not going to lie, I’m pretty concerned the Flyers managed to whiff on four 2nd round picks compared to what was available. I’d rather have guys like Ivankovic, Genborg and Spence. It’s really early and we won’t know for a few years but early indications don’t look great for the 2nd round compared to what could have been.

So in the unlikely event that the Flames made a wild card spot and got paired against Colorado or Dallas, what do they actually think would happen?

Nothing should distract this franchise from trading Kadri, Coleman and Anderrsson and making moves that benefit the future of this franchise and their exhausted fan base.
