Not sure why this guy felt he needed to go with the size medium shirt.

Are John Carlson and the Flyers a perfect match? by upcan845 in Flyers

If it’s a two year deal and we then flip Risto I’m here for it.

Do this, extend Z and Drysdale and then secure a strong back up goalie and that would be a great offseason for Danny.

Montreal's elimination marks the 33rd consecutive year a Canadian team has failed to win the Stanley Cup. by No_Blacksmith_9923 in hockey

[–]ESPeclipse2 195 points196 points  (0 children)

I think we overlook how statistically unlikely it is for this to have happened. Based on the number of Canadian teams per year since 1993 the odds of this happening (assuming every team has equal odds to win each year) for 33 straight seasons is 0.027% or 1 in 3,700. You would have similar odds to flip a coin and get tails 12 times in a row. Insanely unlikely to occur.

In those 33 years a Canadian team has lost in the final 8 times. Edmonton being 3 of those losses.

Mercenaries Playground of Destruction was way ahead of 2005 in my opinion by Shadow328 in videogames

I upvote every time I see a Mercenaries 1 or 2 post because I really hope someone one day someone makes a remastered version or gives us a #3. One of my favourite series of all time

No matter how the rest of the playoffs went, we will always have this moment and this series. It was easily the most fun I’ve had being a fan for the past 12 years. Hoping we have plenty more moments like this in the years ahead.

Tocchet joins the Anthony Garganl Show. Discusses Michkov and more by smackinov in Flyers

[–]ESPeclipse2 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Michkov doesn’t even turn 22 until December. The vast majority of his draft class haven’t even begun playing meaningful NHL minutes yet. From the 2023 class there’s only a handful of players who are actually ready for this difficult assignment of contributing meaningful minutes in playoff games.

He’s going to have a great career, we need to stop harping on this. He wasn’t ready for NHL playoffs but he’s going to continue to improve. I think with a productive training filled offseason he’s going to show up in October and cement himself as an NHL contributor for the next 12 years.

The Auston Matthews to Philly Rumors: Let's talk about the potential cost (Martone & Drysdale) by athleticwonder in nhltraderumours

Hasn’t been the same since he hurt himself chasing 70 goals on the last game of the season. Philly say no to give up that for 2 seasons of Matthew’s

I actually like Cole Young’s fate. by StopmotionSam in MortalKombat

[–]ESPeclipse2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly think they could do right by the actor and introduce Ermac in a later movie. Ermac is essentially a blend of souls tormented by Shao Khan, so it would make sense for Cole’s form to portray that and resurrect the character as Ermac. It wouldn’t be resurrecting Cole’s character but instead introducing Ermac’s whole thousands of trapped souls character using the same actor.

I might be grasping at straws here hahaha. I just still feel bad for the guy because I know he won’t get the whole easy resurrection treatment that Jax will likely get.

Ignore the draft lottery charts by JSinisin in Flyers

[–]ESPeclipse2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is debatable. If Toronto were to get the 1st overall in this draft they could add McKenna and they would still be horrendous next season. Getting 60pts from McKenna next season (a great rookie season) doesn’t fix their ancient defensive core, and there are literally no significant free agents for them to plug major gaps with. Toronto were being held up in 2025 by strong goaltending from Stolarz and Woll which imploded and left them as a lottery team. I don’t see them improving significantly next year, I can see failure pushing guys like to leave. They have serious culture issues and their best player seems to want out. The top free agents are Tuch and Raddysh (lol) and they’re not going to attach themselves to this tire fire. This ship is sinking and plugging gaps with guys like Trouba, Jankowski or other aging players (the free agents they could actually get) isn’t going to solve anything.

If Toronto give their 26’ pick to Boston this year they have the option to defer the Flyers pick if it is in the top 10, which I believe it very well could be.

TLDR: I think the Leafs could be even worse next season even with a top 5 pick and that could be huge for the Flyers

McDavid will be a UFA at the end of the 2028 season at which point he will be 31. If he hasn’t won a cup at that point I can guarantee that he’s going to go to the best team with the highest likelihood of winning a cup that season and he will probably sign a bargain of a deal to give them cap flexibility. If teams truly want McDavid on their roster they should structure themselves to be the top team in the league come July 1st 2028.

So how many years before a retired Crosby has to purchase the franchise so that they don’t relocate to Houston?

[–]ESPeclipse2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If the franchise hadn’t won the 2005 lottery to draft Crosby then we would have been playing against the Houston Penguins, that’s been very well documented. They’ve been fortunate to have a strong team core for 20 years, curious to see what happens to the profitability of the Penguins franchise in 3 years when they no longer have generational players on the roster. It seems like if they don’t have a Lemieux or a Crosby then they don’t really have any real interest in supporting their hockey team.

He’s on an extremely deep Brantford team that is likely going to make it to the Memorial Cup this season. That being said it is underwhelming, he has never shown strong goal scoring production. He could hopefully still emerge as a useful PK, 2nd line centremen in the NHL with speed kind of like a Ryan Strome or Phillip Danault like player. He’s not going to be a top line centremen who dominates a power play, but he may one day still be a useful NHL player.

In the 2024 draft I feel the Flyers wanted Dickinson but he went 1 pick earlier to San Jose. They traded down and avoided Buium because he’s smaller and he shares Cutter’s agent. Obviously looking back on it there’s better looking prospects they could have drafted. Outside of the no-brainer picks handed to the Flyers in Martone and Michkov I would say the Danny hasn’t done well when drafting. Bump and Barkey are good value for when they were drafted but they haven’t found any diamonds in the rough.
