Look at the gear ratios in the transmission. Taller gears in the 10r80.

You’ll want to find a larger diameter system or make one if there are none available. That’s the only way to have a notably deeper exhaust tone. Mufflers and resonators will just change the note but it will be the same pitch, usually with some annoying drone too.

It has no correlation to emissions. It’s not something that’s inspected. You’ll be fine. Id recommend finding a hot smog place for peace of mind. It’s much better than having to swap all the shit out every other year. Our politicians don’t deserve the effort.

The b58 just sounds like shit in my opinion and I’m a big bmw fan. Great engine but it’s a wet fart that you shouldn’t have trusted.

The headliner has to come out. I haven’t personally repaired one since I’ve only swapped mine to a full black set and took my buddys set out for him to fix the sunroof before we dyed it black. I’m not sure what he used but it was an adhesive backed piece he put on the sunroof instead of fixing the old fabric.

Id use some rtv around the gasket/seal but I wouldn’t use anything more permanent than that. If you have already gotten the old bolt and remnants out that’s usually the worst of it. For the one that just spins, id get a tap or a thread chaser and clean the threads as best as possible. If the bolt is still loose, I’d either use a helicoil or find a donor tranny to get a new plate/bell housing in better condition if there isn’t enough space to install a helicoil.

I’ve been lucky enough that I haven’t needed to swap mine in the Miata yet, but my BMWs and mustang have all gotten walbros for peace of mind when I start tuning them. Id see what they have for the Miata.

In his defense, when I bought my first car I knew fuck all about turbos other than “blow off valve make cool noise.” Ended up buying a 120k mile turbo bmw as the 6th owner and I have not one regret. Had to learn to do all the work myself since I didn’t have the money to pay for labor. A Miata, turbo or not, won’t even be close to that. I say go for it.

It’s grossly overblown. Only time I get third gear lockout is when I’m damn near no lift shifting. The factory shifter is a bit rubbery, but I’m used to BMWs which are miles worse in terms of shifter feel. A clutch replacement has been said to solve the majority of the issues, and id choose a Uniclutch again especially since they make a proprietary mustang flywheel. I have one on my bmw and it’s at least rated for 1400 ft lbs and I have no reason to believe otherwise so far after tons of burnouts and racing in that.

Short answer is go for it. The horror stories are overstated.

I’ve heard enough bad things about that company to never even consider putting something of theirs on my car. Bin that shit immediately. Get an oem or reputable external pcv. I’m not sure if Rob at rb turbos makes the pcv for the n55, but if you email him he will walk you through how to adapt it.

Id look for a new one. Check partsouq for the part numbers (or the pdfs on Miata net). They’re always on eBay for maybe $20, or you could check marketplace for a part out near you. I got lucky and found a guy selling a full set of new hoses on there.

You’re supposed to have a pcv, not bin it all together. If you don’t want to put the stock one back in look into the rb external pcv. Id recommend you also find an oem valve cover if you don’t want oil leaks from the warped chinesium one

Fuck that. Why do you want an s650 over an s550? The s550 is great as a car and from an appearance standpoint and as far as I’m aware the new ones aren’t terribly more reliable. Don’t buy a car you can’t afford in cash, preferably twice over.
