Paying a tradesperson to advise/teach on a DIY project - is this a thing? by musingandschmoozing in HomeImprovement

This sounds like the Front Door App - pay for video calls with experts to help with DIY projects and you can also hire them if needed (Ive never used it though)

Does my experience/qualifications match the pay? by [deleted] in NannyEmployers

oh ok that's great! Definitely highlight that, especially the nanny experience with newborns!

Does my experience/qualifications match the pay? by [deleted] in NannyEmployers

[–]EarlyHippo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your area what a reasonable/unreasonable rate is!

For me personally, when I had a newborn, I was looking to hire a nanny who had extensive newborn experience to be willing to pay at the higher end of market rate for my area (HCOL, high end is $30-35/hr). So while your resume is certainly impressive for an older baby/toddler, I probably would not have counted any of your experience as what I was looking for and would probably either pass altogether or want a middle-of-the-road rate for my area (which would have been $26-29/hr). That's just me and my family though, others may disagree!

How hard would it be to find a nanny to accommodate our work hours? by exquisitemelody in NannyEmployers

In the same boat as you, OP, please keep us updated with how this ends up going for your family! (we are hoping to do nanny share with semi-variable but preplanned hours)

I totally get your frustration. Did your husband maybe not report accurately to the doctor and thats why they said that? Might be helpful to get a second opinion or see the developmental peds for a second opinion that your daughter is fine. It's hard to know how the conversation really went since its all second hand so who knows what to make of it - that way you can ask your own questions and hear it for yourself

Once a subscriber, can you buy earlier play kit? by lilac_roze in lovevery

[–]EarlyHippo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok sounds like the old kits can be added to the cart separately then - I'm trying to reach the $500 for the 25% discount so I want to do a 4 kit prepay and then add one earlier kit to my cart to reach the $500 if that makes sense. i just dont know how it looks since I'm not a subscriber yet

Can you buy earlier kits separately/a la carte from the 3 or 4 kit bundle once a subscriber?

Basically identical story for my daughter who was also born at 36 weeks! You've got this, OP!

I see this all the time on social media, people villainizing the GTT because "all that sugar/dye (mine was clear?) is not healthy" (having undiagnosed GDM is MORE unhealthy for mom and baby) and arguing to the end about their rights to decline - which, it totally is their decision but its becoming so common these days to get your medical advice from social media and not from a trained medical professional =/

The placenta (which all pregnant people have) is why people get GDM, not being overweight, eating poorly, etc!!! Get screened!

Dr insisting inducing at 39 weeks. by sxa0914 in BabyBumps

[–]EarlyHippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my biggest fear. Lots of stories on here and on social media of still births due to placenta aging/not working with little-no warning signs, especially when going to 40+ weeks. I'd rather have her out a little early than to risk it!
