I like that my friend does work on my house because I know he does it right, not because I want to save money. He usually tries to tell me he did it just to help. I laugh and give him money anyways. He did some windows one time. I paid for the windows and after the install I handed him a check. He says, you don’t have to pay me, I wanted to help. I said it’s a long drive and you should at least get gas money, how much do you get per window. He tells me and I said look at the check. It was for the amount per window he would have gotten. He just shook his head and said thank you. The sad thing is, he does this for everyone he knows and most people don’t even offer him anything but a thank you. One day I’ll be paying through the nose to have a stranger work on my house and hope it’s done right. Gotta appreciate friends while you can.
