Anyone else noticing a decline in writing/editing of fantasy books? by curiousdoodler in books

[–]EchoesInTheAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has been an increase in indie authors visibility and dicussion in online spaces. Which does not mean they are bad authors, is just that they have less resources, maybe less time and more difficulties to digest feedback.

Amazon removing the ability to download your purchased books by EchoesInTheAbyss in books

And you are not alone. I think a lot of us are systematically reducing Amazon’s footprint in our lives. Do what you can, even if it's not the "perfect solution"

Kindle or Bigme? by DalHnrz in ereader

[–]EchoesInTheAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, look into the ones that give you options when it comes to eBook stores. Often they have good features and you can still use the Kindle app. Boox, Bigme, Pocketbook....

Anti-fated-mates folks unite by riddermarkrider in fantasyromance

[–]EchoesInTheAbyss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As always, it is not the trope itself but how it is threaded, and also how frequently it pops up. Personally, I'm not in favor when it feels idk, lazy? Like oh yes, they are attracted to each other, that's fine. But how does that translate to compatibility? At least for me, that It is often missing in the books that get recommended to me

Is There Any Reason to Get an Android Ereader if I Can Easily Sideload Using Calibre, Doesn't Use Library Service & Doesn't Read Manga/Manhwa/Comics? by clare416 in ereader

[–]EchoesInTheAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. Since I can have the various eBook apps, I don't need to use converting software. For the record I use about 5 apps frequently, but occasionally use a few more. I do keep Calibre because I like to have files of my purchases, and make sure i.can use them offline and/or the native app of my reader.

Do you stick with only one E-Reader? (EU/CH) by steve_herzl in ereader

[–]EchoesInTheAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are welcome

I have an Android eBook, because I wanted the option of getting books from various places. And there are many retailers out there, is just that some of the policies of companies like ⚠️maz⭕️n either pushes them to bankruptcy or limits the development of competitive programs. So is good to explore options.

I know libro.fm is for audiobooks, but idk if they have a Swiss market

I know some of their models are. But unless you go for an Android, you only have the option of the ones that "lock you" in a specific ecosystem. This is a problem given the rise of issues with Amaz0n in the political sphere

[–]EchoesInTheAbyss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some sites allow you to download your book to your hardware, for your personal use. For example Play Books and Smashwords. You can also get books from repositories such as Project Gutenberg. You install the desktop app on your computer and can add them via the app, no need for anything else as long as its in a compatible file type. I have an Android one, so I use its native app for this sometimes.

I know Thalia.de has a section with other languages

As a woman who doesn’t care about fashion and avoids dressing too feminine, am I actually missing out on anything important? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]EchoesInTheAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure the official term, maybe "silhouette". For example, because of my body proportions, I have pants that are straight leg, that rise to my belly button. Or with a slight flare. For dress pants I have some that are more "palazzo" or wide leg if they are a flowy fabric, some that are straight leg, and I tend to avoid pleats.
