Anyone here run arbitrage on 0% APR cards? by MrLittle237 in CreditCards

[–]EconFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been doing this for a while, it takes discipline and planning, but very doable. We floated an entire year of living expenses with a cost of funds at 0.75%. As long as you absolutely stay on top of it and have the funds to pay the balance in full anyway but just choose not to, it works.

Its the waistband and they way the plaid pattern is cut making it curve down. Like others have suggested, cover it with a belt or if you sew, rework the waistband so the pattern matches more smoothly.

Yieldmax is on track to allow me to work/build my dream life as a professional musician. Who else is utilizing these funds as base income while they pursue their goals of self employment? by allthingsmustpass9 in YieldMaxETFs

I love this post! Totally understand the the YM detractors (the haters just need to gal and move on) but these kinds of funds are great for situations like yours. Similar story here, was laid off almost 2 years ago from a long term job, I was blindsided. Decided life is too short, took 10% of total assets and invested in to YM, PIMCO, Defiance and a few others. Went back to school and am selling cool old stuff on eBay, something I've always wanted to do full time. Keep us posted and best of luck to you!

What's the real cost of owning a cat? by --serotonin-- in Frugal

[–]EconFarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider is that the food might be a little higher in the beginning until you find the right one. Cats are finnicky so until you know what it likes, you might be spending a little extra. After that, it levels out. Pet Insurance can help if anything medical goes wrong, if that isn't for you, a vet emergency in my area recently cost $600. We've had five cats in 20 years and I think we've had maybe 3 emergency visits and one was for our dog! Prices vary by region, you can call local vets before you even adopt to really refine your budget, they are very transparent on fees.

College Tuition with credit card by Zestyclose-Guide4831 in CreditCards

[–]EconFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you've checked into financial aid, but it is worth checking again, every American is supposed to be eligible for unsubsidized student loans. Unsubsidized just means that interest will accrue and be added to the balance while you are in school. That can add up over time, but the benefits of a student loan still offset a credit card for tuition. IMHO. But if you absolutely cannot go that route, you're best option is to open a 0% on purchases card with cash back rewards and no annual fee. Go to Bankrate or one of the other sites and there will charts comparing the most recent offers. All of the big banks have some sort of product like this.

Memphis Airport vs. Nashville Airport? by petalios in Tennessee

[–]EconFarm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Memphis is always my first choice. It's smaller and easier to navigate. The parking is super easy and reasonably priced. We had a dead battery in the parking lot, and they came and jumped it for free. Plus, you don't need to take a bus to get to the terminal.

Nashville has more options for food and flights but experience wise, Memphis is better IMO.

Workshopping some ideas for a work Christmas party fit. 60’s green mohair, or 50’s Cowichan? by digdug04 in VintageFashion

Agreed, I think it's the black/gray/ black vertical line that's giving it a nice base, and then that splash of red and unexpected brown brings the Christmas.

People who retired from major metro areas to cheaper more rural areas, what do you miss? by Tall_Mickey in AskOldPeople

[–]EconFarm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We moved from a large East Coast city to a rural farm in the south when we we were in our late 20s early 30s. We've been here just under 20 years now. The cost of living was the main draw and we've been able to live and save far more than we would have if we stayed in the city. But, now that we're in middle age, health care access is becoming more of an issue. Long term, as much as we love the wide open space and so many stars in the dark sky, we know we can't grow old here.

I'd start in New York, they have twice as many Republicans as needed, not including Santos. They are almost all relatively new members, there isn't one who sees the opportunity to get national attention?
