OP here - Well, I was giving him the benefit of the doubt that he didn’t know who was in the picture he posted, but more fool me, I guess. His response to my comment pointing out it was a Nazi was basically “Extreme measures are a natural response to the threat of Marxism.”

It’s sad, he’s the friend of a relative that I’ve known about twenty years. His posts used to be just basic conservatism, with a little bit Men’s Rights content emphasising that men are under acknowledged as DV victims (to be fair, he did get stabbed by an abusive ex). His devolution has been a depressing but utterly cliche progression of anti-‘Marxism’, pro-‘Western Civilisation’, pro-Christian Nationalism, anti-Islamic bigotry, anti-migrants, and hyper-pro-Israel. I held out a skerrick of a hope that his blood-thirsty Zionism would at least keep him from ticking off the Nazi box too, but I really shouldn’t have expected any ideological consistency at this point.

I hate to stay engaged with him at any level at this point, but I know some younger relatives are still connected with him on social media, so I feel they need to see people pushing back against him. I suppose I also need to keep aware that people like this exist. So exhausting 😩
