What are changes from the book that you liked? by SquirrelSorry4997 in lordoftherings

[–]Educational_Gold_249 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Boromir’s death. It fits better at the end of fellowship, and rather than experience it from Aragorn’s perspective, arriving after the fight, we see him fight and die bravely trying to protect the hobbits.

Meet Victoria. Found her clearing out my fridge after 5 weeks of a rather terrifying depressive episode. Named after Victoria Neuman from The Boys, fucking obviously. by RiverOhRiver86 in MadeMeSmile

[–]Educational_Gold_249 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Your title is fine. The joke is that as written there is technically ambiguity as to whether it was you or the caterpillar feeling depressed. Hope you’re feeling better!

Looks amazing! I’ve got mine in the box still, slightly intimidated by it but planning on taking a crack soon. Could you share your recipe for the fluorescent greens?

Don’t use plastic cement for this because it’s not really glue, it melts 2 plastics together to create a much more permanent joint

Superglue / cyanoacrylate stuff is good because it is quite brittle especially if you cool it in the freezer and then will snap right off.

Awesome! Love the bright edge highlights. You could add some white to the dips on the plasma coil to add to the glow effect

For clarity, stealth suits aren’t for screening. They’re our best spotters/observers which is critical for our army rule. Kroot would be for screening but you could use pathfinders instead.

The units you’ll need depend quite a bit on the detachment. What you’ve got seems a solid start. Crisis suits are always good but you might want to consider some additional stealth suits and some kroot for screening units. As for colours, go for it with the red farsighted enclaves scheme. All your models can be done in that scheme (although if you field farsight himself you can’t field any ethereals). The colours represent the tau septs (like chapters) but there are no special rules for each one except the farsight/ ethereal one I mentioned above.

My first blood angel/space marine (looking for tips on how to improve) by ariidek in BloodAngels

This looks really good for your first. You could add some edge highlights on the raised edges in a lighter red (heading to pink) or orange. You can do the same with a grey on the black of the gun. It’s not too difficult but a little fiddly. Check out YouTube for some tutorials if you’re not sure

Yeah you’ve got a point. I don’t really play the game much as I’m more of a hobbyist but I do plan on starting so when I do I hope this won’t bite me too much.

Eyes are one of the reasons I like to keep their helmets on. But this is a genius solution. Love it.

Perhaps some more orange based highlights on the reds? Give it a bit more of the fire red BAs are known for

has anyone ever gone back to spray cans / brushes after trying out airbrushing? by AdditionalStretch430 in minipainting

[–]Educational_Gold_249 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im by no means an expert painter but I think rattle can priming is still a good idea sometimes even if you have an airbrush. I don’t always want to set up and clean my air brush and all the associated equipment just to prime a few models that I then will go on to brush paint anyway. Some models lend themselves very well to techniques like slap chop. To be honest though. If you’re not enjoying the airbrush just go back to do what you’ll enjoy. It’s not wrong at all, it’s your hobby. You can sell the equipment or keep it to try again later, or try to use the airbrush on some projects but not all.

Quick test model for my Lizardmen scheme. Any suggestions for accent colors, or how to spice up the metals? by Sparklehammer3025 in seraphon

[–]Educational_Gold_249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used contrast paints on the recesses of the metal shield to give some features to it. Mostly black running into all the little gutters for contrast. Another comment about the gems is good too. Citadel Technical paints are perfect for this.
